i am looking to have the kenwood dnx7100 installed in my 2008 toyota tacoma double cab. i was wondering if anyone could give me a list of needed dash kits, wires, and any other accessories involved with installing this unit?

also, if anyone has any pictures of installation i would appreciate it. thanks for your help.

You need to get the Schosche double dinn dash kit from http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_5774_Scosche+TA2053B+-+TA2053.html and they will give you a free wiring harness. only $40 and it looks great check out the pics

Have best buy install it they will do it for $150 lifetime warranty and will replace you old stereo for free if you sell the car.

if you get the Ipod interface, make sure you get a mini usb hub and a usb extention so you can use the usb with the ipod hook up

If you can wait, the DNX7100 is getting upgraded to a DNX8120 in March. Here's a look from CES http://blog.sounddomain.com/gadget/2008/01/kenwoods-new-ki.html#more

It's more dough, but it looks like the interface has been updated. Also, if the 8120 is the new top of the line, you would think the 7100 would get severely discounted very soon.

I'm gonna wait until I can actually touch one in the store.

thanks for all the information. real quick though, for those of you that have the kenwood dnx7100, was it pretty simple to bypass the dvd and navigation feature so it would function while driving? i know that when best buy or tweeter install these units, they won't give the function of the dvd or navigation. thanks again.

Hey man, I just installed the dnx7100 myself and I breezed through it in about an hour. Prior to this install, I had never touched a car stereo wire in my life, so I know you can do it. To by-pass, I simply grounded the parking sensor (green) wire into the ground wire. Basically, I took the green wire---which is connected to the Kenwood harness, twisted it together with the ground (black) wire---also part of the Kenwood harness---and then twisted these two wires together with the ground wire of the aftermarket (Scosche) wire harness used to connect the Kenwood into the truck's system. To finish, I slid these wires into a crimp cap, pressed down with the crimper, and I was done!

By doing the by-pass, the unit thinks I'm always in park. This is the only by-pass you need to do on the Kenwood.

Let me know if you have any questions...good luck.
