Installed Cold Air Intake--check Engine And Shift Point Issues

MAF calibrator would not stop the problem.

Make sure there are no intake leaks and that the filter is attached securely. It's also possible you damaged the MAF sensor.

 

no y-pipe needed, just cut the 2 cats off and replace with piping, that was what i did and it worked great, no CEL or anything ever but it did get a bit louder...try that before you change the muffler

here are 2 short clips of the exhaust on my taco. rear cats removed and replaced with straight piping, 16" long glasspack tube and it dumped just behind the passenger rear door on my access cab, before the rear wheel

Are there any probs with smog?...or O2 sensors?

 

I checked everything really well...the MAF was all together with no damage when I cleaned it...is there a way to check it without buying a new one?
The code reader says, " The PCM has determined that there is a discrpeancy between the "actual" MAF input and the "calculated" MAF input derived from the input gathered from other sensors IE: Throttle postition sensor , BARO pressure sensor ECT."

 

no....no probs with removing the rear cats and putting in straight pipe. the o2 sensors are after the first set/before the last set of cats. not too sure about smog/inspections, but i think you should be fine.

 

Best thing to do is find someone near you that you can swap MAF sensors with. Swap them out and see if the code returns.

 

all 4 O2 sensors are just before and just after the first cat on each side, so removing the cats after the sensors didn't change the way they read at all. in illinois all they have is an obd2 diagnostic check, no visual inspection. however, i could still pass a visual because there ARE still cats on it
