Success!! The smaller sized ones DID work, but I had to bend them a bit and drill the bolt holes bigger, as mentioned above. Feels good to have this simple mod finally done!

I put the larger D rings in mine. Was super easy to do. Great thread!

Bought 2 of the big rings and 10 of the smaller rings all from Army Surplus Warehouse. Since taking this picture, I put the 2 big ones at the front of the bed for hauling dirt bikes, 2 smaller ones on the middle bed bolts for misc, and I put 3 smaller ones under each side rail. I didn't put rings on the forward middle rail bolts (even though they fit fine) because they looked stupid hanging over the cubby holes:

I did something similar but I drilled out the rainwater drain holes in the front and ran the D-rings through with a big washer on the underside. I wasn't real keen on removing the bed bolts although I like the idea of the ring n the middle of the bed. Looks like I'll have to invest in a bigger breaker bar...

    Clazzio seat covers,
I added a few in the side wall towards the cab. A 4" x 4" stainless backing plate. I have got to paint the washers black.

Added the front pair as done in the OP for this thread. Didn't yet cut my mat. I won't use these every week, so I'll just lift corner of mat the first couple times and see if that becomes a hassle.

Great easy mod, even had the same choke tube lube in my cleaning kit.

    THANKS

Now, anyone have any good ideas for use of the backing plates and bolts I didn't use from the kit?

I just installed my factory D-rings in the toyota recommended positions. I did have a strange problem. The D-ring bolts would not tighten all the way thru the backing plate nuts. At first I thought the nuts might be self locking, so I tried more force but they would not budge. I ended up putting washers on the bed side of the bolts. I was then able to tighten it too the recommended 23..5lbs. Anyone else have this problem?

Did mine last night. These should be perfect for my motorcycle and probably 100 other things! Like others, mine were only torqued to about 30-35 from the factory. I put them back in at about 55 ft.lb.

They also sell these which are the 5 for $5 D-rings that other members refer to. Says "Rope Ring" on the website, but they are still rated to 800 lbs. OEM D-rings are 440 lbs (see earlier post).
