I just bought generic ones off of Amazon. They were rated at 1000 lbs each, which means they can handle 3000 lbs or more with the safety factor. The payload on the 2nd gen taco's is only 1500lbs, depending on the model. So if I am over stressing my D-rings then I have went over my payload limit. The only thing I would have done different is find some where I didn't have to drill the hole out to fit the bed bolt through it. Also while I am talking about bed bolts, you can sand down the little ribs to get the washer off. The D-rings will work easier, IMO, if you go washer then D-ring and then bed bolt from bottom up.

The Sprinter ones don't spring back. The bracket clamps the ring tightly so they stay where you put them.

That auction has scam written all over it. New ebay user, 0 feedback, 20 for sale with a Dutch auction showing more than 10 available. He doesn't say you get 6 for $14. If you get anything at all, you're going to get 1 for $14.

Does anyone know the oem bed bolt part number?
In trying to get the original washer off I've comprimised a few of the lowest threads and the bolt only wants to go in crossthreaded now.

I just ordered 4 more of The Sprinter D rings. About $36 with shipping. That works out to about $9 each. Well worth it.

Part number for the sprinter D-Rings? Might as well do it while doing my body lift.

How are people removing the threading atop the bed screws, so that the new D-rings can slide on?

is there a cheaper way to do that than a Dremel ($40+) such as a single hand-held file tool?

Based on the excellent insight here I just installed extra bed hooks. I didn't have to grind down the bolt to get the washer out, though. I stood the bolt up on my stone wall and tapped it with a hammer. One side went down. Then tapped the other. Did that five times and it crawled down the bolt and came right off. Given I have no skills I was amazed at how easy it was.

A hand file will work, or some sand paper.

    I used my bench grinder.

How much do the factory d rings that aren't in the bed bolts hold down? Meaning what is their breaking strength?

Mission accomplished. Should I put d rings on the last 2 unpainted bed bolts by the tailgate or are those factory ones strong enough for most things?

Those factory rear D rings aren't super strong. Get bed stiffeners and you'll have plenty of tie down spots and a reinforced bed.
