I just picked up the sprinter rings from dodge. They are def bigger and beefier than the stock ones. Not sure I am going to get them to swivel freely or if that doesn’t have to do with the d Ring and is about the bolt/washer setup

They don’t need to swivel. You’re overthinking this. Mount the front ones so they’re angled just slightly rearward. In other words, mount the left front with the D towards the middle of the truck. Then rotate it just slightly clockwise and tighten the bolt. Whatever you anchor down, you’re going to be pulling somewhere between straight across and 45 degrees back. The D ring will be just fine pulling in those directions. If you put D rings on the middle bed bolts, point them towards each other.

It would be a shoulder bolt to make them swivel , but they don’t make one to fit . You would have to come up with something . I’ve had my dodge d rings for over a year now and haven’t got around to actually make them swivel I’m probably just goi g to bolt them in

I’m pretty sure a sleeve pressed on the bolt would probably work . I was going to make some out of heat treated 17-4 stainless

the d ring MIGHT have to be modified thou

    Edit: SOLD

Welp unfortunately I seem to forget my truck is a rust bucket and bolts generally won't come out.... so I'm looking to sell my OEM D rings if anyone wants to buy. Couldn't get the bed bolts to come loose even with a 24" breaker bar and getting to the point of crushing the bolt head.

All 4 for $20 (~50% off) plus shipping. Also wanting to sell the T-55 socket used to pull the bed bolts, $3 (bought for $6).

I know many are going for cheaper aftermarket options but this is good for anyone looking for the factory look and feel.

Getting ready to install mine. I wonder if there’s a more discrete way to cut the floor mat if you don’t have to worry about swivelin’. The gaping, square hole I see in so many installs costs a lot of material.

Some people use a large hole saw to cut a nice round hole in the bed mat. Of coarse, put a block of wood under the mat when you break out the hole saw.

It is about the bolt , the rear (closest to the tailgate ) swivel because they use a shoulder bolt . There isn’t (that I know of) a shoulder bolt made to make the sprinter ones swivel . I am a machinist by trade and considered making a spacer for the factory bolts and hardening them but I’m not so sure the idea would work so I haven’t followed up and actually tried it .

Will the bed bolts go into the sprinter d ring holes without the need for drilling?

Are you happy with these? They look heavy duty. I don’t usually put very heavy things in it but a piece of mind and extra securing points low to the bed is what I’m after. My frame is relatively new so I’m hoping the bolts back out easily enough. I’ll keep them soaked in the PB a week or so before I do the work. Thanks!

I am happy with these! Keep in mind that they do not swivel and the D rings themselves take some effort to pivot but they are stout. I sprayed about 3-4 coats of Rustoleum primer and then the same number of coats in black on the head of the bed bolts to try to prevent it from rusting like my original ones did. The coats will still chip off as you slide stuff around back there but it can always be touched up. I rarely load stuff in the bed as well but with those extra D rings, it helps tremendously since they’re strong tie down points. Only thing I keep in the bed constantly is my full size spare.

I like this mod and want to do it but have a question. Concerning the Toyota D-rings, the head on the bed bolts are much larger than the bolts supplied with the Toyota D-rings and it appears they will not sit flat when installed. Will the bed bolts clear the sheet metal and sit flat?

Will the head of the bed bolts clear the sheet metal on the Sprinter D-rings?

I hope this pic helps answer your question about how the Sprinter D-rings sit:

On mine I ground a little bevel on the bottom of the bolt head with a bench grinder to clear the raised part of the D ring bracket.

Friend of mine works at a dodge dealership and is holding four of them for me. My new frame is only 2 years in so I don’t think it will be much of a problem to back the bed bolts out to replace them
