haha i just went through this exact same process, but the box i got had a defective weld and the lid wouldnt open. I was planning on painting it black too and was going to probably have it powdercoated. I returned it instead and bought one that was already black from cabelas, it should be here in a couple days...

I was considering buying this same toolbox and was wondering what hardware you used to attach to the bedrails? The last toolbox I owned was on a Ranger and it utilized a j-hook that clamped under the metal bed rail however the Taco's do not have a ledge besides the track rail. Please advise.

You can still use the J hooks. Just drill a hole underneath the track on each side.

 

DANGIT! you're making me want a toolbox now

 

Heres pics of how mine's attached. I didnt have to do any drilling btw. I hooked the j-hook through the hole in the bedrail and it lined right up with the hole for the toolbox already cut from the manufacturer, then I just used a washer and nut on the inside of the box to screw it down.

 

Yeah Ive read it several times. It looked perfect.
