Why not use cleats in the front bedrail?

It's not deep enough for my netting to cover up the tarp.

I try to slide my stuff forward so i can place the tarp under it to hold it into place, but that doesnt always work.:(

    Pretty much stock
This is why you DO NOT use the bed rails for motorcycles / atvs etc.

The rail might technically "on paper" hold it, but i wouldn't risk it. Especially not with the crappy cleats.

I hauled my Triumph to the dealer and back, about 100 miles. I tied to the rails in the front and the factory "D" rings in the back. There was a noticeable flex on the front rail tie downs. It was scary, but the trip was successful. I have since added 4 of the "Army Surplus" "D" rings to the bed bolts and will not use the rail tie downs for the motorcycle again.

I ordered some of these on monday. Today the package gets here and the UPS guy hands me it and I think to myself this is damn light. So the UPS guy leaves and I check the packaging closer and discover that the package has been torn open and there are no d rings in the package. I take off outside to catch the UPS guy before he gets out of the neighborhood, flag him down and he helps me decline the reception of the package and sends it back to armysurplus place. I dont hold the store responsible for this, looks like someone at UPS needed Drings more than I did. I will be calling the store and telling them what happened.

Bump. I ordered the factory D-Rings and installed them today in the sides of the front of the bed as specified in the instructions. I was happy with the default location, so didn't see any need to change it.

BUT - the backing plates with their welded nuts are NOT tapped all the way through - they're designed to stop before reaching the end. (WHY? I DON'T KNOW) Anyway, to mount them successfully now, you either need to tap out the factory nuts, and I don't have a tap that size, or buy a couple extra fender washers to space out the D ring from the inside of the bed so it gets tight before you run out of threads.
