    I simply connected the parking brake wire to the stereo's ground with with the wire-splicing thingy...

    Google "wire-splicing thingy". It's a pretty expensive part... :D

    Longhorn..couple questions for you...

    1) did your harness have a yellow/black "mute" wire? where does it go?

    2) where exactly do i connect the speed sensor cable?

    3) did you connect the head unit ground wire / parking brake wire to the chassis? or did u connect it to the ground on the factory harness?

    I already can't find the install instructions I used, but I don't think I connected either of the first two wires. And I connected the ground wire/parking brake sensor to the ground wire in the wiring harness.

    Yeah, I know what you mean. I got my amps in today, the front components and baffles from Marv will be here tomorrow, got the subs rear speakers and wiring last week AND I bought the wood to make the sub enclosure and picked up the last of the miscellaneous stuff tonight.

    Got a long build/install night coming up tomorrow night... :)

    Oh, and I still have to sound dampen the doors... :mad: Knew I should have done that already... I have guests coming in town Thursday afternoon and if I don't get it done before then, it will be mid next week before I can work on it anymore.

    Oh, and I got word that my Wet Okole seat covers will be here Friday! WOOHOO!! :)

    As in just don't tap that wire in to anything and just leave it hanging? Will that bypass the video as well or is the only solution to ground that wire?

    I don't think just leaving it unterminated will work. Just clip it to the ground wire of the stereo with one of these:

    I think it might vary by brand, because the guy i got my pioneer from had to add a wire to the RCA plug and jump it to the parking brake / ground cable...?

    That was the "Mute" wire I asked you about, Longhorn. In this case, it's used to bypass the video block

    The install wasn't hard at all. Took about 20 minutes to prepare the wiring harness. Then took me about an hour to figure out how the dash kit went together properly, but that was my own fault... About half an hour to route the GPS antenna and microphone.

    It was really simple. Try it yourself and post any problems/questions on this thread and you should be ok.

    well, you need a dash kit and a wiring harness that don't come with the HU. The Scosche dash kit I bought came with the wiring harness, but if the kit you buy doesn't have it, the 87-up harness is the one you need unless you have the factory JBL system. Then you'll need something else, but not sure on the details.
