My '16 SR5 of course did not come with the LED DRLs, but I like how they look so I bought the proper headlight housings used off eBay. I assumed they would be a plug-and-play replacement on my truck. It appears not.

Problem #1 - the new housings have an extra (5th) pigtail coming off them, which does not exist on my stockers. I don't seem to have a matching connection on the truck tucked away somewhere. Is this the connection for the LEDs? Why wouldn't the truck already be wired for DRLs?

Problem #2 - the inner running light bulb is different on the new housings. Roughly the same size as my stocker, but the mounting tabs are exactly reversed. And, the plug itself on the back of the bulb in the new housings is entirely different than on my stockers. Wouldn't be an issue, if the mounting tabs weren't also different.

Why the hell would there be two entirely different headlight housings? More importantly, is there any way to retrofit these LED DRL housings into my SR5?

That looks cool, but not what I'm looking to do. I want to install the stock LED DRL housings into an SR.

Well that's easy all you got to do is fork out the money for the housings and wire them up!

I've already forked out the money. Wiring them up has proven to be not that easy, for the reasons described in my first post. The bulbs are different, and the SR doesn't have a 5th pigtail that seems to be needed for the LED housings.

I've posted this before. Search my history. You will need to splice the wires from your inner DRL(Amber bulb) to the LED DRL a harness. There are 3 wires on it.
    1)white/black. Ground
    2)red- low power. DRL daytime
3)green- high power: hook to headlight power wire( this will dim the LEDS at. night

As far as the bulb socket yes they are different. 7440 vs 7443(dual filliment)

Awesome, thank you. I found your other post on the topic now. I assume that the "extra" harness on the HL housing is the LED DRL harness then? And I'll just try to shave a bit off the tabs on my 7440 bulb to fit into the 7443 spot on the housing?

    Hi,
I'm interested in doing this as well, but I can't find your previous write up on it.
    Thanks

Worked awesomely, thanks! The only odd thing is, the driver's side parking light (stock DRL) only illuminates when the truck is running now; the passenger side works as normal.

Hi, I know its been a long time. But were you able to fix the problem?

I'm looking on doing the same thing, my problem is that the colors on the wires from my truck (three cable connector) are different even on both sides.
    PASSENGER SIDE FACTORY (DLR-GROUND-TURN).jpg
This one is the passenger side, I can guess that the black/white is ground, blue is DLR and light blue (thicker cable) is turn signal??

    DRIVER SIDE FACTORY (DLR-GROUND-TURN).jpg
This is the passenger side and again, black/white would be ground, pink would be DLR and light yellowish would be the turn signal??

My plan is to take the harness that is sold by RetrofitSource and cutting two connectors out of the four, and splicing and directly soldering the three cables left into these three cables. Hopefully that would be how its done. I hope I don't burn something in the process.

@MESO any advice? or should this be done differently? I've seen RetrofitSource install these in a Tundra which they have a harness for and it does have an fuse, which is something that scares me.

Did you ever figure this out? I'm in the planning stages of my SR5 retrofit with LED DRL headlights
