I used a dremel with a small sanding drum to sand the posts/melted plastic and free the garnish piece away from the the aftermarket grill.

The only way to get the TSS to work properly is by using the radar sensor cover. Trying to use the cover that is shipped with the grill doesn't fully protect the sensor and results in the "clean the sensor" warning.

Does this work on a 2019 Tacoma?

    Cool brotha! Thanks for reply.

Just got a ‘19 Taco and want to change the grill. Did you do it on yours? If so can you share the link where to purchase? Thanks in advance

I think I was the first person to do the Pro grill on a Tacoma with TSS. The 2019 is the same truck as the 18. Search my posts to find the thread I started. I'd do it for you but its bad time for me. :) Some don't use the garnish or longer Pro harness. My view I'd just spend a couple more dollars and do it right and not have any issues. Sensor alignment should be done but only the dealer can do it but others have not bothered and have had no problems. Totally up to you how you want to proceed. Bed time now.

Looks great! What did you use to black out the chrome "Tacoma" letters?

Hi guys, just installed the grille and I’m getting the TSS error message. I have the garnish on, but the video in the video I watched the sensor is only mounted to the garnish by one bolt. I think it may be loose and this is giving me the issue. Any solutions?

** I found my mistake, don’t forget the metal mounts from the original grille haha!

OP, did you buy the TSS cable extension for the install? Some people say you need it, some people say you don't.
Any picture of the inside to see how you reroute the cable would be helpful!:thumbsup:Thanks!

I bought a 2018 OEM Pro grill online from Lowe Toyota for $197 a month ago, they didn't ask for a VIN. I bought the OEM garnish off E-bay for about $50. No issues at all.

Regarding the question above, I did buy the cable. It was $18 and snaps right into place to holes in the grill with snaps pre-mounted on the cable. It isn't an extension cable, it replaces the stock cable and is a little longer. I was surprised at that.

The original harness will work but the Pro harness mounts up as intended and look OE. For $18 bucks why wouldn't you?

I just put a grill on mine with the garnish on my 19 today, put everything in the way I took it off, but I drove it for like 20 minutes and almost getting home my warning light came on, any ideas?

Lord THANK YOU! Even the dealership just told me that i may need a whole new sensor for my pro grill, then asked if it was aftermarket or oem. Saved me $400 mistake of a new sensor, waiting on my garnish now for my 2021.

Hey man! I was hoping you could help me a bit understand this. I ordered both those grills (silver and bronze). Toyota tech said the silver model won’t work because it has no brackets for a tss sensor (The bronze definitely does have one) anyway is there a way to actually install a tss sensor onto part number PT228-35170? I have the washers, and all other parts and a spare grill I could pick parts from too I guess but how does that all work. I cannot find anything online

I’m interested in doing this grille as well for my 2019 OR but am not quite sure what parts to purchase or if they have to be oem or not. Sounds like some have success with and without using oem parts. Is there anyone that has the part list or links of what to purchase that will work with no issues with the sensor in the grille.
