So far it does appear that Toyota has done quite a good job with the truck already. I dont know if the VVt-i has anything to do with things or not. It just seemed like the truck noticed the changes and adjusted itself to compensate. That or somehow the brakes were kicking in, the Dyno Operator said he could smell something and it seemed almost like the brakes were doing something. We used a 2007 stock Tacoma manual shift. I will have more actual data later as I have not received the graphs yet from the shop. The dyno was a Dynocom Dyno and the tuner guy did definitley know what he was doing. They are used to running alot of 4-500HP sports cars and had quite a few "flavors" around the shop. A nice Skyline and some beefy mustangs and some other imports. Here are a couple pics of the shop. The part showed a slight gain in the mid but not alot more at this time. However we are going to leave it installed on his truck for a few weeks and see how things go. We didnt wipe the ECU before or after, so if there is any type of "learning" due to the hardware we may try another dyno in a couple weeks. As far as the driveability (but dyno) the owner of the truck states he can definitly feel better throttle response, power, and on a 60 mile trip he thought he may have experienced a bit better mpg. These are his experiences, not mine or my opinions. I wish I had better results but right now the Toyota seems to be pretty good from the factory as others have stated. I think the large gains on the Nissan is that Nissan isn't as "polished" of a vehicle/engine from the factory which leaves more room for aftermarket improvement. I have to learn more about the Toyota engine and truck, but am going to still see if this mod has some future merit. We may experiement with a different thickness to see it makes a difference.

Not sure, will have to see if something like that was in play. I am new to the Toyota so I'm learning the features. Its possible. It is a 4x4 manual speed, but stock engine.

Nothing like that would kick in on a dyno. It may have been the clutch the guy was smelling, not the brakes.

I dont think that was on the '07's. IIRC., that came out in '08, or '09.

When we dyno'd Lucario Runner's 4 Runner, I am pretty sure that he disabled his traction control. He unplugged it. He knew that it would cause some form of interference with the way the vehicle would operate on the dyno. So, there has to be some legitimacy to those comments.

Also, we disconnected the battery, but I cannot remember if it was only before both dynos, or before each?

Good to know. We may make another round of dynos, trying some new things to see if we can get some more accurate results. I'm still learning this motor and truck etc. I will say the guy running this spacer in his truck swears he can feel stronger accerlation and throttle response. He even said he thought his mpg got slightly better. I'm not giving up on it just yet. The owner of the truck was not with us, so we were limited on knowing what we could disable or whether to reset the ECU etc. My buddy and I are NIssan guys so... If anyone else is around that knows alot more about their truck and wants to go dyno and can get to Asheville we could always try another truck, lol;)

Well guys after about 6+ weeks the guy who has been running my spacer swears by it! He says without a doubt in his mind he has gained increases in acceleration, hp and low end torque. I have now uninstalled it from his truck, so in a nother week or so will see what he says about how it runs now without it. He said he didnt follow his mpg very closely but also swore it didnt seem like he had to fill up quite as often on his commute. I know the dyno runs, didn't quite show the results we were looking to see so far, but I do think there were some other factors in the mix. Either the ECU should get reset before each run, or looking at the Trac disabling etc. We went wheeling a week ago and his truck did quite well climbing a bunch of the trails we did. He really is animate about the fact that he can feel a difference. If people are interested I could consider doing a limited run of 10 or something. Its really not hard to install, nor does it take long, maybe 45 minutes or so. Well LMK what you guys think.

I've been doing 215 shipped with Priority Mail 2-3 days for the Nissan guys, so probably about the same.

Well I can have them made any time. I just need enough people wanting one so that I can get the run made and keep the cost down. I'd need about 10 committed buyers. I don't have all the production plans figured out on this part yet as the interest wasn't real high. I can certainly do a smaller run of 5 or something but they'd be more like the 265.00 price which is what I have for a normal price on my website. It may take a couple weeks once I have every one's payment. The 215 is my normal group buy price. LMK :)

    Highaltitude,
Could you setup a group buy page with all the info saying how many people you need to keep cost down, specs, Dyno's of what you have, powder coating optins, etc, etc.

You'll get more people to look and decide if they can read it all on page 1 vs. going through 23 pages to get all the info.
