2005 4.0Litre V6 manuel trans--I took the cats out three years ago and six months ago i started having a hesitation occasionally. I put a code reader on and clear the codes caused by the lack of cat. converters and the hesitation goes away until the check engine light comes on again.Usually within 100 miles. Plugs and filters are new-and all of the error codes point to the errors you would expect from no cat.converters.Any help would be great!

Remember, the truck is designed to have cats. The intake is designed to be able to flow the correct amount with proper backpressure from the cats.
With that said, if the hesitation occurs when the CEL comes on, its probably due to limp mode. The ecu thinks the cats are being damaged so it cuts power.

Why it didnt happen sooner, i cant say.

Thanks--i was told i could put something in to fool the computer into thinking i still have the cats and that would eliminate the check engine light and i assume the hesitation as well. any knowledge in this area??

To installing the cel fix? No.

I ran one on my wrx for 3 years with no issue.

The truck should be tricked into running normal.
