Not sure if its the key or the truck, pretty sure it's the truck.

My key fob often takes 10+ clicks to lock or unlock the doors whenever it decides to work. Sometimes it will work right away though, others not at all and I'll have to unlock the door with the key.

I've tried both fobs, new batteries, cleaned all the contacts etc... Seems to be totally random. Not weather related at all.

2017 SR5 with keyed ignition not push to start.

    Any ideas?

    Hey there

When you say batteries, are you speaking only to your fob? I ask because it may be wise, if you haven’t done this yet, to check your trucks actual battery. Get an idea of what it is reading out. I know it may sound silly, especially if it’s cranking on the first try, but something to consider.

After that’s been checked over, there is always a slim possibility of interference, wiring issues (mice are the devil) so on and so forth.

If there are no other evident direct signs, and nothing else has changed since you noticed the issue, those would be good starting points. A scan tool could also help see if there are any DTC’s that are underlying as well.

EDIT: Silly things can cause issues, even if they don’t seem like it. Check this link out to a similar post as reference.

Appreciate the help. Truck battery tests out fine. The only LEDs I have on the truck are aftermarket ditch lights and an aftermarket reverse light flush in the bumper. Neither of those are on when I'm trying to lock or unlock so I don't think its those.

Is the receiver module high in the headliner somewhere, under the roof cubby maybe? If its easy enough to get to ill pull it and see how it looks.

Update for those with similar issues...

Toggled the "Remote 2-press Unlock" to off and it seems to have fixed the problem.

Interference? Are you going through walls or glass?

Nope, I can be standing right in front of the truck. I've tried to isolate all the variables, weather, batteries, obstructions, etc...

So far changing that setting in the lock menu is the only thing that's made a difference.

I have the same issue that happens randomly. The last time it happened was a couple years ago. I haven't changed anything other than the batteries in the fob. It usually stops working for a couple weeks and then suddenly it works. First, I thought I was the only one because I couldn't find anyone with the same issue. You were the first.
