Iphone 5 issue

It must just be use of the phone over time. The back one picks up sounds when taking rear facing video, the bottom speaker on picks up when your talking and the top one by front facing camera pics of volume for front video. Siri uses both the front facing camera one and the one down by the speaker.

 

It sounds like a hardware issue but, give it a try. It seem pretty ironic as soon as it was released you had issues. Try re-syncing also, make sure you have latest version of iTunes.

 

Siri and voice memos both use the front camera speaker and bottom one, must be that the bottom one isn't working anymore and the camera one is the only one picking up sound. And when you switch it to speaker, Apple predicted that you would have the phone facing upwards, so both the camera and the bottom mic pick up the sound.

How come Siri works and Voice memo doesn't then if they both use the same mic ?

Do you have a old device that will/can hold you over? The "S" series are typically superior units.

I could try to limp along using spesker phone on my 5 I guess

 

I'm just thinking it would suck balls to buy a new device with the new model just over the horizon, for the same money, (most likely).

 

Mine has been doing it for about three weeks, still running 8.1.3 software. That's the only issue with it, everything else is running fine. I've tried syncing it, I've turned it off and on, cleaned the bit of dust out of the speaker. Mines always been in a lifeproof case since new, tried without the case and was still doing it. I even switched my lifeproof cases the first week it was doing it (went back to an older model of the case) hoping it was just that.

Im available for an upgrade now and my 5 is just over two years old. Not sure what to get for my next replacement?

 

So anyway , I updated to 8.4 today with no change , I didn't really think it was a software thing

 

That fixed it I presume?

Not an iPhone user at all, I have an older Blackberry but it's free as is my airtime..

 

By " no change " , I meant updated didn't change anything , the issue is still there , obviously a bad microphone

 

What do you have now ?
