    Ladies and Gentlemen,

I've updated the system, bought a few cheap accessories, and now the iPhone 5S is fully integrated with my Pioneer P4200DVD and here's how I did it, and how you can too!

    Needed:
    iPhone 5S
    Etekcity HDMI2AV adapter
    Apple Lightening to HDMI adapter
    HDMI cable
RCA cables (Red, Yellow, White) kind.
    Video Receiver with AV inputs

    Instructions:

    Plug and Play :)

It mirrors the phone completely? What input do you have the headunit set to?

For example, could you touch the capture button for the camera on the head unit and the phone takes a picture? I am thinking this would be useful to place phone calls if it will mirror everything the phone does.

So the screen is like a TV, you still need to touch the phone, but everything you see on the phone you see on the screen. I have the phone hooked into the the AV input, but the sound quality is better on the iPod setting and direct from the phone without the adapter.

What happens to the audio when the head unit is using the AUX input? Can you hear the phone audio? Can I listen to the radio?

on my Pioneer unit I have 2 options: I can use the AV input which will mirror the phone, or I can use the iPod setting which will play whatever audio I'm playing on my phone. So if you are listening to the iheartradio app or pandora or rdio, any of those apps will play just fine. If you want to listen to regular radio, that's totally separate from the iphone and of course you can.

I don't have anything connected to the AUX input so nothing happens if I choose AUX.

You can hear phone call audio through the speakers too, but I don't like that. If I was going to do that I'd use bluetooth.

Do you think this would work with the pioneer 5500 and a 4S?

This is cool, but I'm having a hard time figuring out why you would want to do this. It would be awesome to be able to touch the screen and control your phone, but why only mirror it? For movies or videos? Idk, cool idea though :)

Exactly. I drive... ALOT... like 40k miles a year alot. So I use Netflix, Hulu+, and video podcasts to entertain myself. The only reason you would do this is for the video or GPS. Otherwise the iPod/iPhone link works much better because you can touch the screen to operate that and the sound quality is higher.
