I ordered the USA-spec I-pod interface from Crutchfield. I can control music with the radio and/or the I-pod. Its pretty simple to install.

I had a USA Spec adapter with my Honda Accord before getting my taco. It worked good. It has a direct mode which allows you to control the play using the iPod. I was going to get one for my taco, but have decided to replace the whole head unit instead.

Got the same one for the Tacoma. Sounds like it'll do what you want. Personally, I like the radio controls but you have to arrange your music in Playlists to work correctly.

USA SPec PA15 TOY allows control from the Ipod and Factory radio. I installed it in my 2008 with single CD player. Works great and no fiddling to keep it working. You don't have to have songs in playlists - but if you do, each of lists 1-5 looks like a separate CD to the radio. No matter what you do, CD 8 as displayed by the radio is the "Ipod Direct" function which means complete control from the Ipod, not the radio.

X2....or 3 for the PA15-TOY. Has a direct mode, and works great with the factory HU. Keeps Ipod charged, and allows full use of the steering controls to navigate thru songs, and play lists.
