They are out there. You just have to be patient and look like everyday. Picked up my 05 access cab with 60k miles for $15k a year and a half ago :)

I bought my '06 DC OR SR5 package with 48k miles from 1st owner for $19k. He paid for the registration and agreed to let me have it checked out by a mechanic. I am very pleased with it. I think I paid market value and do not feel ripped off. Be patient. If it seems too good to be true, it probably is. Ask if it has a salvaged title. Most states require the seller to disclose this.

A lot of you guys who say I can get a 2nd gen for 15k mostly live out of state. Here in Southern California, most sellers think that their trucks are made of gold and charge way over bluebook. I been hard pressed to find a under 100k non salvaged double cab for even under 18.

A lot of Toyota's sell for over blue book and not just in CA. It's because of their reputation for making reliable cars. I bought my '06 new because used 01's-05's were only a few thousand less. Like previous posters have said, you need to look everyday and you need to expand your search to all over CA. and bordering states. Check Craigslist, the Tacoma "for sale" area, used car lots, local newspapers, and other car websites. It might be a pain in the a$$ to travel, but if you save a few thousand dollars then it's well worth the trouble. I've recently seen a couple of 2nd gen Tacoma DC's for about 15K. You'd just have to travel a bit to get the deal.

If your looking for anything over a 2005 with 4x4 and more then regular cab, You should expect to pay at least 17. I just got my 2006 Tacoma Super White double cab 4x4 TRD sport with 110K and one owner brand new tires for 19.5K with taxes all said and done. Believe me its hard to find, These trucks really hold there value, HIGHLY
