Yeah you're right. 17 is probably the magic number I need but Ill probably just end up with 14-15.5 by the time I finish saving all my funds by January. Hopefully I can get a 2nd gen. My other choices are a 1st gen double cab, 3rd gen 4runner 2001-02 sport edition, or a 4th gen 4runner. Compared to the Tacomas, 4runners prices in my area almost sound like steals. I've seen V8 4runners with under 100k miles going for under 12k.

Nice! But, I won't have all the money saved up till January. If you have it then we can talk. Are you in Long Beach? I see your Taco is in front of a Long Beach police car.

Good luck on finding a First Gen.....I've got one 2001 Double Cab with 76K miles and the free frame replacement from Toyota 2 years ago. I keep it garaged for the most part, but get it out every often to drive the other Taco Maniacs crazy...Good luck..

Ouch, I can't believe the price for adding the extra doors. I would never pay anywhere close to that for any vehicle with +100k. Unless I personally saw to all of the maintenance.

Just for reference: I bought an 08 regular cab with under 10.5k miles for $11,250. The GF's car and my truck combined were in the $17k range (her's was under 60k miles).

Get the VIN and Carfax all serious considerations. We almost handed 10k over for a salvaged title on a 1st generation (frame damage, yuck) until we got a hold of the VIN and checked it.

Yeah thats what I've been saying. Im really reluctant to shell out 15k for a vehicle almost 10 years old with 130k miles. But Toyota trucks are so freakin sick I'll probably end up doing it lol
