I'm looking at buying a Harbor Fraught 20 ton press and would like to is it going to be enough to press front wheel and rear axle bearings?

I have zero interest in farming out the press work. Too many bad machine shops out there

40 ton would be safer, I've never used a little small one like a 20 Ton. That being said, I'd think you be safer going with a quality 20 Ton brand, over a Chinese harbor freight 40 ton.

It does take a fuck ton of pressure to do them without fighting anything. Cant quite remember but it seems like 20t is the recommended amount of force. I even wanna say guys have had trouble with them at even 20 tons and need more, like double that...not positive on that however. But im certain they are quite hard to do sometimes!

***ahh yeah cruiser beat me to it! My gut feeling was right 20t is sometimes not enough! 40tons is whats needed to perform the job witout issue everytime!

Guys have done it with smaller press' but bigger the better and easier life will be. Those front bearings are no friggin joke lol!

Yeah, personally, a 40 ton is the smallest I'll own.

I never really need to go over the estimated 10ton. You'll get what you need out of a 20,ton press at home.

If a retainer is too difficult to press off with an axle bearing I just score a notch into it and it comes off like butter.

Used the same press to do my rear wheel bearings.

For the front bearings I think your going to need a stronger press.

Yes, I use a 40 ton, put with only one of the three handles (leverage), so like 10-15 tons

There are way to many variables to just say a 20T or 40T press will work.

I have seen so much deflection in most of the China Built ones no way possible one gets the rated amount.

I have a 50T Carolina I bought 20 plus years ago has done everything I needed
