Hello, I have been reading a bit on the motor mount failures on 2005 tacomas. Is this something to be concerned about on my 4 cylinder 05. 67000 miles and mounts look good besides some sloppy welds. Is this something I should be concerned about/do preventative reinforcement on? Thanks in advance!

i did some research on this issue before i bought mine, i believe this issue is only related to the 4.0 liter motors. i'd imagine because of the excess weight.

Thanks for the reply! I am hoping that this is the case. A little reassuring!

I've only heard of Mount issues on the 4.0L . The 2.7 L should be fine

The 2.7 seems to be safe from alot of issues. No ticking, no broken mounts, etc

Check where the mount is welded to yor frame. look for cracks in the weld

I thought that the 4-cyl was just as heavy as the 6 due to cast iron block vs aluminum....???
4.0 puts out more power, which I presume to be the reason for the caved in motor mounts.

Edit: never mind, 6-cyl is 90 pounds heavier.

Interesting, I would think that with only a 90 lb difference it would still be a concern. But I guess the significant difference in torque and Hp makes the difference. Whatever the case the mounts on my 4 banger look solid for now. A friend told me that this was only a problem in the salt belt too.
