Not sure about the 2015.. My 2007 is pre-wired for fogs but it was much easier to just run my own wires and switch.

if you have V6 it should be.
all you will need to do is plug everything in.

I have a 2015 AC 4x4 4cyl and it was prewired for the backup camera. I purchased a OEM Toyota camera on EBay for around $260 and it was plug & play.

Don't know about the fog lights.

My partner has a 2015 SR5 and the dealer told her yesterday that it was not prewired for the backup camera. That's pretty disappointing. Might they be wrong?

I have a 2014 base access cab, 4 cyl, 5 speed 4x4. Mine was pre-wired for the back up camera. If you open up the tailgate and see a wiring loom in the gap between the tailgate and the bed, the truck is most likely pre-wired. Also hints of pre-wiring include a warning on the start up screen of the head unit about always being aware of what's around your vehicle etc. and a yellow sticker on the inside of the bed also warning about something or other. I forget which side my sticker was on but it's near the rear of the bed and about 3" x 4" and bright yellow.

Also be aware that there are 2 factory back up cameras, the older style has a 4 pin plug, newer style has 6 pin plug, even though only (I think) 3 pins are occupied by wires on either plug. Not sure what years have what plugs but my '14 has 6 pins. Factory cam should be plug and play, I did mine in about 10 minutes.

Is it super simple? Just hookup camera and plug harness in? No wire splicing or anything?

Yea, the only work I had to do was remove the tailgate liner. It's held on with a bunch of torx screws. With it removed you can see the backside of the tailgate latch. There's a blank plastic piece where the camera goes held in by a single 10mm bolt. The wiring harness (plug) is simply removed from this blank piece, then the piece is swapped for the camera, then plug in the wiring harness.

You can investigate before you commit to buying a camera. Just remove the tailgate liner and check it out. It is very easy.

Here is what I discovered in researching the back up camera install for my 2015 Base Access Cab, 2.7L.

All 2015s have the harness in the tailgate but not all are pre-wired for the camera/headunit. Under the truck at the base of the tailgate is a plug white/grey that you would disconnect in order to remove the tailgate. The side of the plug that goes towards the front of the truck must have 4 wires coming from it. 4 wires, pre-wired, 1 wire, not pre-wired.

My truck had the 4 wires and I installed the exact camera you are considering from Camera Source. Due to the possibility of a 4 pin or 6 pin connector, the Camera Source connector comes with a replacement harness that goes from the camera to the connector beneath the tailgate. Camera Source has a video of the install at their website and on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4zOQoh0oyvY

The whole job took less than 30 minutes. The Entune head unit automatically recognized the camera and it works fantastic.

As a side note, I have added the camera, locking tailgate, cruise control and interval wipers all for less than $500 (the camera took the longest).

I say check the harness under your tailgate and if you have 4 wires coming out both sides and an Entune radio you should be pre-wired.

I think i remember reading somewhere that access cabs and double cabs had a better chance of being pre wired than regular cabs. It seems like ac and dc trucks had a higher chance of being offered with the packages in which the camera is included.

Could you even get the "convenience package" on a regular cab?

Thanks, guys. This is very helpful. We checked, and are pretty sure her truck is good to go for the camera!

The camera is super convenient, especially if you have a cap on the bed.

20150521_172331[1].jpg 20150521_172209[1].jpg I recently purchased a 2015 Pre-Runner Crew Cab 4cyl. It is pre-wired for the camera and I purchased an after market camera that was advertised a to fit 2014/2015 Tacoma's.Only problem is the connectors are different from the factory wiring. Is there an adapter I can get to complete the install?

I am also curious about being pre-wired for fog lights. I asked the dealership and they said (and I quote)-

"IF YOUR VEHICLE DOES NOT CURRENTLY HAVE FOG LIGHTS, YOU CANNOT INSTALL THEM OTHER THAN GOING AFTERMARKET, BECAUSE OF WIRING, TURN SIGNAL SWITCH ETC. WOULD ALL NEED TO BE REPLACED AS WELL. BASICALLY YOUR VEHICLE IS NOT SET UP FOR THEM. SORRY."

In all caps like that too... Seriously!?

    I have a 2015 DCSB V6 4x4 base-model with "convenience package" and tow package..
