looking for a 4runner or tacoma and if i go for a tacoma i would want a TRD package and 4wd, access or double cab.

Is this possible or should I just give up?

It would have to have a crazy amount of miles. You will find plenty of 1st gens at that price though.

I would look for a first gen then personally. Just as reliable aslong as the frame is in good shape and you could get one for less than 10k pretty easily.

I traded my 2006 TRD Off Road with 175K at the dealer for $12,000, so at that price level it will most likely have 200K+ and may not be in good condition. You will definitely have to find one from a private owner to even get close.

To give you an idea, look on auto trader and put in the details of the truck you want and the price you want to pay. I just looked and found 1 tacoma with a salvage title. I used a search radius of any distance.

I would try to find the nicest 1st gen TRD if possible. Even still a dealer near me always has a few minty 1st gens on hand, priced at a shocking $15-18k. No kidding a few weeks ago they had an '04 TRD-Off Road PreRunner, DC for $18k lol!

But just to reiterate what's been said, for 10k it's going to have a ton if mileage, be moded with a bunch of "Extreme" type modifications like shortened bed, cut out fenders, missing doors to "Look like a Jeep", probably have plastic-dip everywhere.

Probably held together with plasti dip.

It depends where he is too. I got mine for 16k and that's the best deal I've seen hereeven for just a 4x4 2nd gen not to mention the OR package. Even first gens are 12kish for one in reasonable shape.

If NADA is so bad, why do the banks use it to offer loans?

Didn't say it was bad. I was just trying to figure out what NADA stands for. Easier to do than KBB... :)

It definitly seems like it's not good... But when I do other types of trucks they have very similar pricing. Idk. Hell I'd sell my truck in a heartbeat for $16k let alone $22k - probably shit my pants.

If your having a 10K vehicle financed, you might have bigger problems. Just saying if your gonna have a vehicle financed, get a decent one and pay for what you get.

found some good ones for 16k from 05-07.. i don't like dealing with non manufacture dealerships... seen to many shady ones... plus normal dealers should give a little more for a trade... and i always have car max to try to sell to and take out a small personal loan for what I'm underwater on
