Is A Paint Recall Coming?

I dont have the flaking issue on my tacoma or t4r. However our 2016 Carrolla does. Because it seems so inconsistent from vehicle to vehicle i almost seems like a prep and primer issue. The cheapened epa paint doesnt help much

 

Im not holding my breath but it would be nice if Toyota warranteed their paint. Mine is peeling in the same places, hood edges, door jambs and window sills.

I’ve got an ‘08 Lexus GX470 in Blizzard, and the local dealer rep said my paint was peeling worse than any he had ever seen. But it was built in October ‘07, and the current warranty extension for the paint only goes back to ones built after January ‘08.

I called Lexus and they assigned me a case manager who basically said the above... that they need as many people as possible to call in and report the issues to get the programs expanded. So, if you have a Lexus or Toyota with a paint problem, PLEASE call them.

 

My wife’s 2019 Limited Black Nightshade 4RUNNER has paint/clear coat peeling off the grill. Toyota says it’s from bugs, yea right in Florida? Every Toyota here would be fucked up.

I use to duck hunt at loxahatchee when I was a kid. Those coots where everywhere.

 

I have not had a problem with my Blue Ribbon Metallic. But then again I keep it waxed and under a car cover most of the week.

 

Ive got a RR 08 tacoma that's has no roof clear and the hood is almost bald too. They are fixing this issue?

 

I don’t know. Just talk to a dealer and they can run your VIN to see if it is in a current program.

 

I'm just curious if anyone has heard an update on whether Toyota will stand by their paint. I have called a few times myself and they always just play dumb. Maybe I'll send another annoying email tomorrow.

 

They refused to fix my wife's 4Runner paint. Her IPhone doesn't work on the Bluetooth, she's pretty much done with Toyota after this one.

 

Toyota isn't even covering a few year old 3rd gens that have paint issues.

 

So many posts on here about flaking paint. Class action lawsuit is the only way they will pay, just like with the frame rust.

I took mine to the dealer's collision center hoping to at least get a sympathy discount. They quoted me $2500 to fix a spot about 1/2" wide and 4" long. I understand they have to paint the whole door but that's ridiculous. What must it cost to paint the whole truck ?

 

I just talked to my body shop guy yesterday and got a quote for $6000 to paint my 2010. That’s sanding it down, fixing dents and scratches, and taking all the trim pieces off before painting,

 

about 25 to 30 grand is what I hear from good shops.

Nope. I was calling around a few months ago, granted these are some of the most expensive body shops in LA, but that was their price for a full repaint and they said they normally don't even like to do them

 

Missed the California part….that explains it.
