Kind of foolish to not install a new tensioner while your right there .

Then myself if they make a tool for something it needs to sit in my tool box at least 364 days a year

I also am preparing for this job. (2004. 3.4)
So is the correct answer is no compression tool needed if replacing entire tensioner assembly?

I was going to purchase one of the kits on Ebay with the discounted OEM parts that include a new tensioner (13540-62021). Thanks for explaining that this tool is just for folks retaining the oil tensioner.
