12v aftermarket seat heaters are pretty straight forward but can be time consuming. Maybe 2-4 hours for two seats?

Remove the seats, pull upholstery up or out of the way enough to slip heat pad between upholstery and foam padding, reinstall upholstery, reinstall seat and wire in power and switch.

    done.

Maybe put the head pads right on the seats, and purchase some nice seat covers to cover up the heating pads?

Take my advice with a grain of salt. Never done it before and won’t be responsible for burning down your taco.

The factory heated seat warmers are held on with little plastic ties like you see holding tags on clothing...on a retrofit you just use spray glue to hold the warmers to the foam if your gonna take the seat upholstery off probably should do leather while you’re at it but yeah it’s a lot of work and sore finger tips.

They aren’t a huge PITA, but a little. I opted to use a heated seat kit that I also installed on my Jeep, and put them under Bartact seat covers. It took a few hours in my garage, but was reasonably straight forward. I tapped into the fuse box located beneath the drivers dash area.

Haven’t done it but seen people do it. If it helps you, always worth it in the end.

I didn't think it was too bad. Just get you some hog nose ring pliers and a good aftermarket set and go to work. I had the most trouble unplugging the air bag connector. It is a goofy connector and took me a bit to figure out the trick to it.

Putting the aftermarket heaters under seat covers is an even easier way of doing it.

I did replace the 3 switch blank in my truck with an OEM 5 panel blank for the factory looking switches, and that added like $140 to cost, but I wanted a factory look. The switches on my kit are exactly the same as in my wifes Rav4.

    It is 100% worth it.

Clazzio has a kit that goes under their seat covers. That part doesn't sound hard. The wiring sounds more difficult imo

It's not that bad with the right tools. Use Hog Ring Pliers and buy a bunch of new hog rings for the upholstery. Just cut the old rings off to peel off the upholstery off and use new rings. Cheap and easier on your fingers. The first time I did it without the tools and yes sore fingers. The second time was soooooo much easier. YMMV

Stock AF. My 68 Bronco and 2000 2.5RS get the mods.
I've done the dorman seats on a couple of vehicles, they were really easy, pre-loomed harness and everything. They worked awesome under fabric upholstery, by the way. I have a pair sitting in the garage that never made it into my departed TJ. Guess the old bronco is getting heated seats! Anyhow, the dorman switches are pretty ugly. These switches are clean AF though, well done sir.

I did the heaters under the clazzio seat covers. Easy to wire this way, didn’t have to take dash apart.87E2AE24-0621-48C1-846C-A6CDE9AED902.jpg9CC17D40-D667-47C4-B39F-CBBAD9F3EDBC.jpg

This won't be of interest to everyone, especially if you're looking for a 'factory like' solution. I bought 2 of these covers in November for about $40 each and connected them into the console cigarette lighter jack. They work and look great and I plan to remove them in the warmer months. The control can be a little awkward since it is in the surface of the cover but its manageable. I'm happy with them...heat up quick, $80 solution, no wiring mods.

The 3 guys I know who added the seat heaters that plug into the cig lighter had issues with blown fuses and heat performance, seems like the seat heaters draw a ton of power. Wire directly to your fuse box, the lighter socket isn't designed for that much draw.

I'll have to look since it's been forever since I did it, but I know I ran to the battery with an inline fuse, then tapped into something for the switch lights themselves with an add-a-fuse.
