I just bought a used boat, the previous owner name the boat "Poppys Pride". This name is really not working for me since I don't even have kids not to mention grandkids. I was thinking on renaming the boat, but someone told me that renaming the boat is bad luck. What do you guys think????? Thanks.

Break a mirror onboard while standing in front of a black cat, then open an umbrella. That should even things out. :D

    rename it.
Get it all cleaned up and have a new launching ceremony with champain and what not. When she slides into the water she is a virgin boat. IMO

Just rename it. Just make sure to have all your PFD's, fire extinguisher, etc lol.

I probably wouldn't think twice. Luckily when I got my boat the previous owner didn't have a name on it.

It's bad luck not to rename it. Your boat will probably catch on fire any minute now.

Seems like it would bring bad luck to leave the former skipper's name on the boat. He's no longer around to care for it.

I say follow whatever crazy ceremony is accepted in the boating world and then party on.
