So last few days my truck is running ruff. Especially when cold in the morning. When you throttle down it sounds like want to misfire.
It does not skip the beat but its just heavy sound. The misfire part on the throttle down is what is curious. So is it possible that my spark plugs are that wear out at 28K ?
    Any ideas ???

Anything is possible. You could also have a bad wire. Did the CEL light up?

What octane fuel are you using?..... My 4.0 V6 runs poorly on 87. I run 89 at all times of the year.

No, no CEL I will install my computer chip and make a full run on it to see if anything is unusual.

    Blue T,
It is possible for the plugs to have already gone bad from the factory at only 28k. The 1GR in both the Taco and FJ are the only engines that Toyota didn't put platinum plugs in from the factory. They are simply an old school copper plug. The life of a copper plug is only about 25-30k. My recommendations is to run the Denso Iridium plugs in the truck. They are a little more expensive, but worth the investment. if needed, I can get you the part number
    Hope this helps out.

I think this would take less than 30 minutes to find out. You should pop your hood and pull some plugs. This will also help narrow down the problem if it is not the plugs.

Could also be a bad O2 sensor. Had these types of symptoms when they went bad, especially with a cold engine, and rough low idle when at a stop sign, or light.

Thanks those are Denso Iridium right?, if indeed those copper plugs took a dump on me there is no reason to put the same ones back.

yeah I am near replacing interval anyway so they are getting replaced. I will be surprised if this is caused by spark plugs they should last more then that.

When you are pulling the plugs look at the plug wires too, just in case, one could be frayed or worn.

Just curious here - I have an 09 v6, do I too have the cheapo coppers? If so, is there a noteable performance/mileage improvement running the platinum sparkplugs? I just rolled 10k and I would rather get ahead of this one if I could.

    Something Interesting

"Part number 9091902248 was superseded by part number 90919A2001."

Apparently there was something wrong with our coils so Toyota made new one with new part number
