Is LoJack worth having in our Tacoma's? My truck has a system where if the key is not in the vehicle, it will not start. Does this make LoJack only useful if somebody takes my truck and throws it on a flatbed?

fletch your right, they will beat the shit out of it. that's why I like the kill switch. they might brake the window but the truck is not going to move

It is only worth it if it gets stolen.
Couple cops I know tell me it helps a bunch finding your car or truck.
That said I have it in my wifes Lexus but not in my Tacoma.

Does the discount from the insurance company out weigh the cost of the lo jack? How long will it take to break even?

Who on Earth would want to steal a Ford Ranger? LOL :p

I have Mobile Trace on my Taco. It's just like LoJack. I can track my vehicle on the internet and it sends me an email and txt whenever the alarm goes off.

2 stolen trucks later (one gone for good one recovered) i can say Lojack is worth every penny...aside from the insurance lower price for having it.

i have the early warning system so within 10-15 mins im alerted that my truck has moved without me being in it.....
3 am i get that call and email on my cell phone, 5 minutes later all the cops are after it, 1 hr later im driving to reclaim my truck.

turns out the assholes at the dealer i had my truck service at 5 days prior, took my vin and made a key and fob for it, walked up to my house, opened the door, put the key in the ignition and drove away.... apparently text book since all cars now days have coded keys ans such.

They parked it about 3 miles from my house for what they call "cool down period" in case a truck they stole has lojack.

Lojack guy that installed it gave me one gold piece of advise; never let anyone know you have LoJAck, and have a detachable system for the lojack fob so that when you hand your keys to valet/dealer etc, you can detach the fob and hide it somewhere in the car while they have it...that way the lojack wont be alerted and they wont know you have a LoJack.
IF for some reason they steal the truck while the valet/dealer/car wash has it, you still just call police and they track it down, fob is just an early warning system.

note to self NEVER tell anyone with any access to making keys for your shit where you live.
