if you're a serious offroader determined to get to Moldor; there's just so many options today to customize a DCSR 4x4 to even better specs.

beyond the sales opportunities for toyota and pro series tie-in's, is this factory truck even necessary in 2017 if the engine is still bone stock??

From a marketing perspective, yes. A maker would be crazy not to do something Raptor like. People will buy it. Who gives a shit if it's any good. It looks cool.

And no for the serious wheeler, yes because it looks awesome and is a good factory wheeler, but based on a topographical map of middle earth, solid axles and 37s seem that they would be best

No. Can buy a stock tacoma 4x4 dump 20k into it and have twice as good of a truck. But people seem to want the pro I think more to look cool. Like hey look how I spend my money and look how much money I have. Just like everybody in the world trying to impress everybody else

    For someone like me yes.
I like that my truck is "stock" and I don't have to do anything.

I'm not gonna do any serious wheeling so it's perfect for me. Plus I like the look of inferno on the second generation.

Anything more than an SR5 with 4x4 isn't necessary.

So why do you need a TRD Pro if you're not going to be doing any serious wheeling?!?! (scratching head).

Why do people build mall crawlers? Do I need a pro no but I really like it so I bought one. Just because I'm not gonna do serious wheeling doesn't mean I'm not going to off road.

As I said I like the color. Also I like the add ones it has like the exhaust, grill, and wheels.

To your point why did you buy a sport then?

No I think it's frivolous with no significant improvement over the TRD OR for the price you pay. If it offered a turbo maybe worth it. Not impressed. At this point lipstick on a pig with all the other issues going on with 3rd gen

It's the best Tacoma you can get in stock form so that's why I'm getting it. Wouldn't have to ignore that little nagging I'd get if I bought an Offroad and saw a Pro drive by and I'd be thinking "should have waited a year" or "should have spent just a few thousand more".
