Allow me to preface this with a little bit of background on my personality. I am high-energy and can be a bit impatient and expect results rather quickly as a result. By the time the truck comes in, I'm sure the dealer will be releaved he no longer has to talk to me.

That said, I am wondering if what they are doing is common practice and I'm just being one of those annoying impatient customers or if they are screwing with me. I put in an order for a new Tacoma last Wednesday and was told I should know something Friday. Friday rolls around and I am told they are trying to instead swap out a truck they will be receiving in a shipment for the truck I ordered and should know something Monday. Monday rolls around (yesterday) and they have no updates for me at EoB. Of course, I did order this truck the day before Thanksgiving which could be the reason for the delay. I'm just curious if this is common and I need to keep my panties on or try and get my deposit back and use a different dealer.

    Chill out.

You ordered a truck a day before a holiday, and you haven't waited 3 full business days since then.

IMHO opinion, Be patient. Depending on your location, There could be shortage of available vehicles causing delays and besides that your sales rep has other customers he/she has to deal with. Expect 2 - 3 days delay. When I was told my truck came in, I found out that it ACTUALLY came in Monday but they called me on a Wednesday.

Just curious. Has nothing to do with your truck really, but .............

Do you deliver for your employer in a 'high energy give results quickly' manner?

You didn't mention what you ordered. If it's an DCSB SR5 with tow package, they can get one in a week. If it's a DCLB OR 4x4, it will take months

Only when such the job calls for it like when a datacenter goes down or something. I attribute my high energy to the ridiculous amount of caffeine I take in per day.

Certain models are currently very hard for dealers to get their hands on. I am going through the same thing with an order for a DCLB OR 4x4. I put a deposit down to get the order started over a month ago, and we just finally got an order accepted a few days ago. I am still waiting on my temporary VIN, but expect to have it in a couple of days. Right now, I am looking at a delivery date in mid January. If they can swap it for one they currently have in their allocation, you might get it much quicker than if they have to order it.

Yeah and I think that's the problem. It's a DCSB OR in Inferno which seems to be rare in the southeast.

Yeah, the inferno is probably the issue...think that color is fairly rare. Here in Texas, dealers are loaded with DCSB models. But Gulf States is convinced that nobody could ever want a DCLB. So salespeople keep calling me about the DCSB they just got in stock...and about half the time when I explain I was interested in the DCLB, not DCSB, they tell me that Toyota doesn't make a DCLB Tacoma. Sigh...

its a lot faster for them to trade a dealership one of theirs for the one you want than it is to actually have Toyota go ahead and build you one. if anything they are trying to get the truck to you faster. its all goooood! your truck is on its way :mudding:

Yeah infernos hard to find. Though Rick Hendricks Sandy Springs Toyota and Nalley Toyota of Roswell Georgia outside of Atlanta both had inferno DCSB's the other week. Not sure what part of the Southeast you're in but their website may offer you something

And yes you're impatient. Cut the coffee in half :)

Maybe being a little impatient, but did the dealer say you would know something by those days and then you had to call to find out? I can't stand when a business (or anyone) tells you they will contact you by X day and then you have to follow up with them when they don't contact you. At the very least, call a person and tell them you don't have any updates for them by the time you said you would. /rant

Where in southeast are you? Try dealers outside of southeast Toyota umbrella. They will only deal with SET dealers which limits their search.

He did indeed. But it is a very busy dealership so I can only hope he doesn't have time or has no information. Someone earlier mentioned how they were called to let him know his truck was in when the dealership had it for a few days. I suppose it happens.

To be fair, the dealer has to PDI it before delivery. So you can't really get it "right off the truck"!
