Is there a way to change the default Cruise Control?

So, I'm still getting used to my new (to me) 2020 TRD-OR, and after trying the fancy pants Radar Assisted Cruise Control I'd like to know if there is a way to change the default cruise control to Constant Speed. I'd rather not have to hold the CC power button for 3 seconds to turn on my preferred cruise control. If I can't get it to automatically turn on with Constant Speed turned on, is there something I can disable that would make the system fail-over automatically? Like removing the radar sensor from the grille or pulling a specific fuse like I did to disable the DCM? Maybe an aftermarket module that automatically turns on CC in the preferred mode when I start the truck?

What’s wrong with the radar mode for you? I have no complaints with it.

I don't like it. I don't like how hard it hits the brakes and the distance it decides is too close (apparently a country mile is too close).

Press and hold the cruise button for a few seconds. It’ll toggle it to regular cruise mode (non adaptive)

Hold the on button until the radar message closes. It will then behave as normal cruise control.

Interesting. I’ve never had mine hit the brakes aggressively at all unless someone cuts me off in which case I would be hitting the brakes anyway. I do wish there was a following distance setting about one additional “bar” away.

It hit the brakes. That's too much brakes for me.

This behavior does give me new insight into the people I see on the road that randomly tap the brakes for no reason. They might just be on "advanced" cruise control.

PFL Customs roof rack, Body Armor Hi-line bumper. X20 Gen 2 Smittybilt winch, PFL Customs bed rack. Dirt bound rack supports.
On the shortest setting im only like 30 feet behind the car in front of me at 80 mph, the longest range im a good 100 feet back there seems to be no real middle ground

    1) didn't know there was a range setting.
    2) still doesn't help with its overall behavior. If I could set it to only use engine braking I might be ok with it, but actually letting it touch my brakes is a deal-breaker.

I don't like having adaptive brakes set as the priority, I want control, not a computer. The following distances in my truck at the lowest setting is more like 5 car lengths distance.

At least I'm not the only one, even if I still don't know if it can be changed.

Just saying, but OG CC could apply the brakes since the 80s.

I've used radar cruise on rentals. It is sketchy as hell finding out if it has the ability to still work under 25 or so or come to a complete stop.

Beyond all of that, do not bet that peeps are using radar cruise. Peeps just can't drive. Just yesterday, I saw some one tap their brakes going uphill on a highway with no one in front of them.

I don't think I've ever had a car that touched the brakes on Cruise Control Classic. At most they would disable Cruise if the engine braking was insufficient to reduce the speed of the vehicle coming out of the mountains in Colorado. Admittedly, that's a sample size of four vehicles from four different manufacturers since 1995, so it's not a robust dataset. The only vehicle I've ever owned that could touch the brakes is this Tacoma, and only during radar assisted cruise control.

Oh yeah. I have had CC cancel itself for speed, slip, and possibly other things.

It was there on both a Buick and Dodge. They held speed right at the setting going down steep grades. It was only a light touch of brakes though, not like the modern stuff that has full pedal effort on tap.

And which fuse would that be?

Hmm, weird. I think that would've freaked me out. I don't want my vehicle to touch the brakes, at all. ABS is good, but that's the end of it. Still wish I knew of a way to just power on Cruise Control in this truck and have it go straight to Constant Speed without having to hold the button for 3 seconds. I think it's just annoying that I have to bypass the default mode every time I use it. I should be able to configure which one is primary.

On mine, there was a 10A fuse in the fuse box under the hood in the lower left corner labeled "DCM". Pulling the fuse disables the uplink to the hive mind, but it also disables most of your microphone functionality (doesn't work for calls or search, but for some reason still works for speech-to-text when responding to messages).
