Is there a way to turn off the seatbelt buzzer?

Title says it all. Is there a way to make that incessant buzzer turn off without putting the belt on?

Just take it to the dealer and have them turn it off. Its an option in the head unit

 

I used Carista to turn off the seat belt chime.

What? Where? I’ve never seen it?!?

 

It's greyed out, only the dealer can turn it off. It's identified in the service manual in the back. I had them turn it off at my 5k service

 

Good to know. I asked them about this a long time ago and they said they couldn’t turn it off.

I bought Carista for $19 bucks and used it for free for 30 days - was asking any Tacoma drivers I saw if they wanted to make any changes for free - hooked up 3 people with the buzzer off and turn signal flash rate change.

Not as easy as unplugging the connector under the seat anymore huh? That's what I did on my 1st gen & my previous cars, no chime & no light in the cluster either. Too many damn integrated electronics now!

 

Techstream can do it too. Download the free version. If you have to ask where to download it from then peruse all the ECU update threads cause there are multiple links given.

 

Go to ebay….type in seatbelt extentions...buy a 3"rigid seatbelt extention for less than $10. Seatbelt connection is higher and easier to connect and the best thing...no buzzer.

Thanks for the replies. I’ll ask my dealer to turn it off at my first service.

 

Dealer turned mine off at the 5K warranty check and did not really quibble when I ask.

 

Exactly what I did and come inspection time it's just as simple to reverse, just insert after the inspections over.
