Is this an ignition problem?

So today I drove to work. I get there and try to turn off my truck, but the key will only go half way off. so it will go far enough to kill the engine, but not far enough to kill the electrical (radio, a/c, ect...). so the key won't go all the way to the off position, so i cannot remove the key from the ignition, and my electrical are stuck on. Also, while it's like this, you can switch from Park all the way down to drive without touching the break. So temporarily, so I would not be late to work, I just disconnected the battery so as not to kill it, and when I get off of work I will go home (the truck will start up fine every time, just can't turn the key all the way off) and probably look into getting a new ignition switch. But I'm not sure. Also, here's an interesting piece, this could be just coincidence, but after I disconnected the battery, I tried the key one more time and it turned to the off position and came right out like a brand new vehicle. I didn't have time to experiment with this more yet becuaes I was already late to work. Also, I tried turning the wheel and messing with the gear shifter while trying to turn the key off. Nothing would work, but after the battery was disconnected, came out fine.....
