After looking closer at the body paint job....there is a paint strip "over spray". The surface is an orange peel texture.

    Is this paint finish normal?

They all have that. Its an extra thick layer of paint to protect against chips. Look, its a perfect line across the bottom of the truck.

Betcha if you go back to the dealership and check all the other trucks they'll have that 'problem' too. ;)

First car I recall having it on was a '90 300ZX. It's not a new idea.

He can rub till his arms fall off, but that stuff isn't gonna touch the stone guard.

Yep. It's called body work. Some folks with sports cars that are being refinished have the shop grind it all off, then refinish that area like the rest of the vehicle.

I'd only recommend it if you are making more of a poseur statement or show vehicle vibe. Never intending to drive over any loose materials, on road or off.

Only you can decide if it's a truck or a garage queen.

I know. It's hard to dump $35k or so into something with 4 wheels, drum brakes and a weak 6 cylinder engine. And all your neighbors see is just another truck.

But if you actually use the 4wd feature you'll be glad that protection is there when stuff starts flying.

In case you skipped all the previous posts, I'm here to tell you it's normal and it's to help prevent rocks from chipping your paint.
