hey guys, i was just lookin around on the net, and these guys took a 2.7 tacoma a made it into a rally truck. they say you can get 400-500 hp off a turbo with STOCK internals. they didnt say anything about bolt ons, but still, are they bs'n people? cause thats quite a huge jump for a 2.7 lol

yeah I have seen some built 2.7's pushing the 400hp mark...but not so sure about stock internals... i know i saw a celica with a 2.7 taco motor swapped in lay 450 or so to the wheels...but stock doesnt come to mind with that motor

There are only a few engines (4-5)that can support 400whp with stock internals and they are not n/a engines so I say they are bs'n.

well he did say "get 400-500 hp off a turbo" so its not NA might be possible... but remember for them it has to last the race (500-1000mi) for us if my motor needed yanked at 1000mi I'd be steamed

I know it has a turbo but the engine is naturally aspirated and then they put a turbo on it unlike other cars that came out of the factory already turboed like supra, talon, 300zxtt etc...
They already have low compression pistons and bigger rods to handle the boost. That's what I meant. Still think they are bs'n.

yeah like i said though you may get 500hp out of one stock for about 10 mins before it blows up...they never said it was reliable LOL

lol yea thats what i thought, idk the compression ratio on a 2.7, but im sure youd have to lower it to put one on. i mean id spend a few G's on a turbo if itll boost my hp by like 250-300% lmao, not sayin itll hold for long though
