So did I, that's why I bought my Prerunner. Some might think that a 4cyl has no business in a TRUCK, you know. To each their own, buy what you need/want because I sure did.

well, the reason i purchased my 4x2, was it was really the only model that was in my price range. plus i neede something that i could make relatively low payments on, per month. but in the end, im glad i got my truck. yeah i could have maybe gotten a pre runner, but i dont really use a locking diff, or 4x4. winters arent usually that bad here.

In RI the NE corner of the state was notorious for bad driving conditions. Black ice, freezing rain, snow, hilly twisty crowned roads. I drove '83 and '91 Toyota 2WD pickups daily for 10 years in that area with studded snow tires and a couple hundred lbs in the bed (in the winter). I've often driven up ice covered hills on rt 295 that other people were sliding down backwards and stopped several times to check on 4WD drivers who had slid off the road because they couldn't stop. On the other hand if there was more than 5 or 6 inches of snow I was smart enough to wait for the plows to make a first pass.

My tests on how far 2wd can go in untracked pow... done on back forest roads and playing in the fields.

TRD sport (LSD rear) and snow tires, can still pull through a foot of drier lake effect snow. But a foot of dense or wet snow, as front wheels dam snow ahead, the rear axle hops fighting for traction and both tires dig a hole. Stock tires and open diff rear probably slash those numbers down a bit. Of course no issue once in 4wd.

Owned 2wd trucks and with snow tires, never had an issue in winter on the road or light off-roading. But got stuck in muddy fields, steep logging roads, and unplowed winter back roads. So last two have been 4wd. Imagine 95% of surbanites should be fine with a 2wd and an extra $2K in their pocket.

Without my 4wd there's no way I'd make it up to the top of some of the mountains I like to relax on...4wd offers it's owner the freedom to go where most other's are unable to tread. For me, the decision to not settle for a 1x2 (cause most of them really are 1 wheel drive, and heck, many of the 4wd are only 2wd actually) was solely for the added versatility and the increase in liberty.

I don't understand...why do you have this picture with the words "CHRIS4X4" if you own a 2x4 ? Do you have another vehicle that's 4wd? Or do you really want a 4wd? Or something else?

If it walks like a duck...and talks like a duck...then you know what they say...

I did it again. Got tired of paying truck payments and gas and traded in for a 2015 Honda Accord Sport since I enjoyed my 2013 Sport so much.
PreRunner (4x2). Haven't gotten stuck to the point where I needed to be pulled out, thankfully.

I did get stuck in some mud in a constructoin field (I was alone) but after a few minutes of trying to get unstuck I finally did. This was with the Rugged Trail tires.

    These days I wish I had gotten a 4WD.

    Next time.

I have a Dodge 2500 4x4, a Jeep Liberty 4x4, a Dodge M-37 4x4. I also have a 6x6, so I pretty much have the "4x4" part covered. My PreRunner is my DD, and it does just fine off road in the places I take it. I have had my "chris4x4" screen name for almost 10 years, and I see no reason to change it since I have only 2 vehicles that are 2 wheel drive (my Tacoma, and Honda Accord). :)
