Toyota's site lists Prerunner's base price at $23,500 and 4x4 6spd at $25,695. That's a difference of $2,195, or ~$35/month over a 60 month loan. Is that really gonna be a deal breaker?

My truck cost $27,000 in the end with TRD OR, Tow, and locker. So the extra $3,500 for my "loaded" 4x4 over a base Prerunner is still only $58/month. Not a deal breaker for me, and certainly cheaper than towing fees or any sort of roadside assistance plan if I need to get towed out of a snow bank.

I just have a problem with paying that much for a mid-size truck, when for a couple grand more i could get a full size ford or chevy. yes you can read that again if you like. just cant justify the cost to myself.

one of the mods get offended or something?? I responded here i swear...

Where I come from, if you buy a 2wd truck you better be towing or old, because if you are driving around in a big truck thats 2wd, well you might as well have a big rainbow sticker on the back... It was funny in cali, my friend had a big ass silverado lifted to shit and it was 2wd... LOL i used to clown on him so bad

Your post was removed because it was/is worthless. Saying that people in your area are considered "Gay" because they have a lifted/Prerunner 4x2? Really classy. My respect level for you has dropped to a new low.

I guess full size fords and chevys being so cheap says something about those trucks. :D I'd rather spend a little more for something I know will run for 10 years with minimal maintenance.

It was deleted because it was not necessary. Opinions are just that opinions and the question was "Is you Tacoma a 4x4 or 4x2?" not what is your opinion of people who drive a 4x2.

    :eek::eek::eek::eek:

    bummer dude

sheesh you guys have a short fuse!!! I wasnt calling anyone gay!! i said "Where i come from"(this being the origins of my existance) "IF you buy a 2wd truck you better be towing or old, or you might as well have a big rainbow sticker on the back"

Now also understand, I will make fun of people for lifting their 2wd truck, because that defeats the purpose of lift, i will also make fun of lowered trucks... but that doesnt mean your not cool, or your truck wont pull that poon, it just means I think its funny... you can make fun of me too, like say "dude silver, your truck is so muddy, looks like you've just tasted the rainbow"

then i would laugh and say "hahaha dude that shit was funny"

    see how it works?

BTW, my truck is 4x4 :D

How does lifting a 2wd "defeat the purpose of a lift"? I thought the purpose of a lift was for better ground clearance and the ability to run larger tires...

I did it again. Got tired of paying truck payments and gas and traded in for a 2015 Honda Accord Sport since I enjoyed my 2013 Sport so much.
I suppose you're the kind of guy that thinks if a guy doesn't have his 4x4 truck lifted 6" and with 35" mud tires he's not a "real man."

I have a lifted PreRunner. So what. It's seen more dirt than most other 4x4 vehicles in town.

If you suck at driving, yes, go 4x4. If you are not always going to be muding or ditch diving 4x2 is fine. Oh im going to get heat for this one. :D:rolleyes::D

    1. Didn't offend me at all.
    2. 4x2 defeats the purpose of lift? Really? Then why are most Baja Trophy trucks and Class 1 buggys only 2wd? Isn't that ware the term "Prerunner" came from? Ya, if you mud or rock craw, deff get 4x4. But as long as you are a good driver you can kick just as much ass with a Prerunner.

2005 crew cab long bed 4x4, southeast model, with the 18" Enkei's, I love it, plus i pull two different boats, a 22' offshore fishing boat, and an 18' flats boat, i wanted 4x4 for piece of mind at the boat ramp, that's all, although I'd like to get in some mud/sand occasionally for fun offroad.

You left out snow and ice. Depending on the snow, it doesn't matter how good a driver you are. Once snows builds up ahead of the front tires and forms a wedge you NEED power to those front wheels to get over it.

And how many of those Baja Trophy trucks are 2wd to save weight for higher speed, longer air time, and less things to break along the way? :D I mean, if you can get by with 500+hp, locked rear, and sand-ready tires why take the risk of one more t-case, gear box or drive shaft breaking mid-course? (Or just the added weight slowing you down and burning more gas?)

Hey whats up with the Vehicle Stability Control system. I was going through my manual and came up on it. Is that only for "off-road' editions because i have a "sport" edition?
