    Just wondering...

Are you in debt more than your Tacoma is worth? Or...
Is your Tacoma worth more than you have in Savings/Retirement?

    No.

I have all these weird ratios in my head that I live by & so it restricts what I buy & limits the debt I allow myself to carry.

My Tacoma is my most valuable but that is because I'm in school. But it is entirely paid off so I am debt free.

One can never have too many light bars.
I just blue booked my Tacoma and it bluebooked for $31,200 which is more than I paid for it. My Tacoma is my largest asset at the moment considering I have 10K left in payments on it. My student loans and 401k just about cancel each other out at the moment so my current net worth is the equity I have in my Tacoma.

My retirement would have bought 3 tacoma's. I put 50% down and only owe 7k on mine bought in January of 2012. Last I checked I believe my monthly payment was down to around $50 a month. lol

Nope, only note is on the house. I'll be done with that in 4 years. I buy wrecked Toyota trucks and put them back together and drive every, bit of equity out of them. I'm addicted to the challenge of bringing them back to life.

With no car payment, you can really save for the more important things. In addition, I like driving older stuff with less miles. Lots of times the trucks sit for 2 or so years before they can be sold to people like me.

My retirement comes out of my check before I get it so it's not like it went through my hands anyway.

I bought a house in August of 2012 so I definitely have more debt (mortgage) than my Tacoma is worth. If you don't consider the mortgage though, I have more $$$ in retirement/savings than my Tacoma is worth.

I signed up 17 years ago when I got hired. I signed up for every retirement option we had. I have 7.5 years till I can retire because I did that and don't have to deal with anyone's shit once I hit 50.

Sorry, yea. For me I don't consider mortgage with my question...I meant more like "credit card debt" type of debt.

In that case I have more assets than debt. I carry no credit card debt and have less than $1k left on student loans :)

I'll be honest. I don't really care what people make, only that they save for retirement.

Owe nothing on my 3 Toyota trucks. House has $47k left to be paid. 401k is around $625k, of course that is only present estimates. I make just about an even 100k per year. 45k in liquid cash and a few other investments.

I've maxed out my 401k contributions for many years, but I don't see it happening this year. 18k is a lot of money.

I have 8 years to returement. I have never read Dave Ramseys book. I don't know how I could do better, nor do I care. We need to have some fun while we are young.
