Taking it for service at 100 miles. Any input would be great if your Tacoma does these things. I am going in for service on Friday morning. We will see what they say.

Hard to really tell from the video. If you are worried about it, I'd take it in and have your issues documented. The truck isn't even slightly broken in yet, the idling issues I wouldn't really worry about till it has more miles on it. There might be something wrong with the trans, but can't really tell. My trans was very tight for the first couple thousand miles, hell 1st, 2nd is still pretty tight.

    Keep us updated.

    I have the V6 M/T, so not exactly apples/apples..

Serious question OP, is this your first MT that's not front wheel drive? Not trying to be a dick, but most "top loader" transmissions will shake the shifter around quite a bit, because it is directly attached to it (as opposed to a cable shifter, for example). Mine moves a lot, especially on rough roads

I have the same 2.7L and M/T and experience that drastic shift lever wobble also - - unless, I very deliberately make sure I am off the accelerator before disengaging the clutch (pushing foot pedal in). Only an issue with 1st & 2nd gears (3rd - 5th are smooth as glass). If I have just a slight amount of fuel feed going when I clutch, the shifter tries to throw my hand off. If I pay attention and operate it with precision coordination it stays very, very smooth.
For reference, I just bought the Tacoma in Jan17 and for the 18 years prior to that I drove a '93 Civic VX w/ a manual. Never had an issue like this when shifting that car. In fact, I had thought the throw-out bearing had gone bad at 246,000 so I bought a new clutch kit. Well, the original clutch coming out, w/ 246k+ miles on it, mic'd in at factory new specs. (0.40") That tells me that I wasn't abusing that clutch with improper shift technique. But apparently that same technique doesna work on Tacomas. It may be related to the post about FWD and top loaded transmissions, but my '42 Studebaker p-up doesn't do the shake-up (not the same either, but it is a top-load xnmsn).
I do not have the clutch noise that you focused on in your video though.

No this is not my first 4WD truck. I had two Rangers before this. I never remember the stick moving so bad. I also test drove a few 1gen tacomas and I don't recall there being so much movement and I would have definitely noticed something like that.

I think it's either a problem with an engine mount or something is loose like bell housing to tranny. The noise when I let off the clutch sounds like a flywheel or pressure plate ticking the bell housing. All I know is I just took this truck off the lot and in one day I am annoyed. I rather have it documented than not so we will see what they say on Friday. I am totally expecting a "nothing wrong with it".

There's nothing wrong with it, I've had 3 manual tacomas and they all do that.

I cannot tell from the Video but if its making noise when you take your foot off the Clutch in Neutral it may have a bad Throwout Bearing.

Yeah my shifter moves around that much and more on rough roads at speed. Mine idles at 500-600 rpm when warm and will dip and shake when the ac compresor kicks on. I have the V6 though. The "clank" when clutching in seems like what happens if you let off the gas too early when shifting. See if it still does it if you keep on the gas while clutching in. Just a guess. I couldnt hear the clutch rattle in neutral at the end of video so i dunno. Mine doesnt rattle but like all manuals in my experience you can hear a difference between neutral and a disengaged clutch if you listen for it.

First off you are NOT used to the truck, your shifting shows it, im not saying you cant drive a stick, I'm saying you've only put 90 miles or so on it, you are not used to the truck, the shift points, at what rpm to shift, when to clutch in, how much throttle can be be applied in between shifting etc...

Go put 500 miles on it, get used to it, and come back and talk to us!

Seems normal to me. The trans and engine mounts allow a lot of movement in the trans lever compared to what I am used to (rovers) with direct mount shifters and obviously compared to cable/rod activated transmissions.

That "rattle" is your throw out bearing. Sounds normal
