    Thanks for the reply.

I was trying to compare what others with a h100i got for CPU temperatures. I believe my h100i GTX is having pump? issues which is causing the high temperatures under load (80C+ - have seen it over 90C) with my i7 4790k (stock clock).

I have ordered a cheap (but nice) CoolerMaster 212 EVO (air) to see if my temperatures are lower. It was on-sale on Amazon for $23.75.

Anyone have any pointers how to get a HP laptop to boot that came with Win 8, I upgraded it to Win 10, now the user wants a downgrade to Win 7.
We both hated he had Win 8, for obvious reasons.
We both wanted him to try Win 10. So I got him an SSD and 8GB RAM. It has a Pentium processor (slow), but he didn't pay a lot for it either. It runs 10 okay at best, but he wants congruence with his work PC here, which I understand completely. This is somewhat a work laptop as well.

    Onto the booting....
Every damn disk, legit or burnt copies, of Win 7 gets to "Starting Windows" page after loading files, and HANGS! I've tried Pro, Home, Ultimate, and Ent versions. All of them stop at the same point.
    PLEASE HELP! :)

    Tried that too.

I took the machine apart and putting his SSD into an EliteBook that had a HD fail. I scrapped that drive and all he'll need is booted with Win 7, which this machine had installed on the HD that died. Didn't want to do it this way, but it seems to be working, for now...

I'm fairly new to this forum and stumbled across this thread while browsing around. I work in the IT field as a Systems Administrator.

I have never, and don't yet own a Tacoma, but I've been eyeing a 3rd Gen. I haven't decided if I'm ready to trade in my 2012 RAM 1500 Sport for a Taco just yet, but I sure do like the look of the new ones and I miss having a manual transmission!

The MT is not as rough as some of the truck MT's but not as smooth as a car's MT. But I love it all the same.

I have a Noctua NH-D15 on my 4790k, but mine is clocked at 4.7Ghz. The 212 EVO I had isn't enough for that chip. Worked alright for my 2600k though.

Why did you choose the D15 over the D14? Just curious.

My coworker drives a double cab RAM and we often park next to each other. I'm alway struck by how much bigger his truck is than mine. Having owned several full sized trucks in the past I'm super happy with the Tacoma and its smaller size. But, then I often have to park in downtown parking structures and they are a tight squeeze even for the Tacoma.

I parked in a parking garage in Boston once and was blown away by how it was clearly not designed with large vehicles in mind. I figure I was about an inch from the walls on every corner. The ones we have here have substantially more space. You could drive a dually 1 ton around in them without a problem.

Do you have UEFI or a standard BIOS?
Many computers with UEFI firmware will allow you to enable a legacy BIOS compatibility mode. In this mode, the UEFI firmware functions as a standard BIOS instead of UEFI firmware. This can help improve compatibility with older operating systems that weren’t designed with UEFI in mind — Windows 7, for example. Some UEFI systems have a legacy BIOS mode that you can enable, this might work for you.

It had both actually, still would not let me load 7 on it. I fixed it by switching ssd into another laptop, it loaded 7 without an issue. But, it came originally with Win 7, not Win 8.

    See my other posts above...

Supposed to have better cooling performance. I'm sure I had looked at other factors too when I bought it. Now that summer is gone,I can put my 4790k back at 4.8Ghz, and I believe temps stay below 82°C

Party foul for not replacing the first failed drive before another one died.

This one was a mess. It was at a remote site. The local guy (not an IT guy) has been "trying" to get 1 drive replaced since february. Yes february. But some how he never talked with the server team. He just kept reseating it. It would work for a week and then fail again. When it finally got to me, I checked the iDRAC and it inly showed a drive with predictive failure ( different drive than the first). There was a drive configured for a hit spare. I had him pull the predictive failure drive. When he did that and the rebuild started, the second drive failed. I got super lucky. I was able to get drives and images over nighted and there by friday morning. I rebooted the server and it said it had a foreign config, I imported the config and the server booted. I ended up getting the 4 critical VMs moved to the new array. And they were up and running by noon on friday.

Sounds like you need central monitoring of the hardware.
