HDs are pulled from dead PC. Wifes PC is the same as my dead one, can I hook up 1 of the HDs to see if I can read it? I need my saved emails that have login info for several sites. Some I have managed to change, but some will send a recover PW to a dead company. I don't think win10 will fix that. ;)

Update. Found an easy work around to print. Cheaper than upgrading to win10.

Fortunately I don't have to administer it. But as a user it has so much stuff that feels rushed. Like the entire settings app.

And to go with it, the most useless error messages. Try putting the wrong netmask notation into the static ip settings. It won't tell you what's wrong, just that something is wrong. At least it was that way last time I tried it a couple weeks ago.

Bitch bitch bitch. I can distribute patches to 420,000 systems overnight with 99.999% install rate (for all systems that are on). Those that didn’t make it overnight get patched on boot up. Boom.

In most cases I can build and push a new image faster than a Win 10 patch can install. Thanks fog!

And 85,000 of those are on VPN teleworking!!

And don’t get me started on how easy it is to manage all the virtual desktops!

My corporate laptop stopped updating at 1809 for some reason. Called it, they sent me a link to a windows iso dvd on onedrive and just installed it manually over remote desktop. I guess that's the right way to do it? I dunno.

Only took 3 hours. Partly because my corporate laptop was slow when it was new.

We found an issue where HP had a batch of laptops with a different chipset in it and it took forever to figure why a particular image wasn’t taking.

But we install patches throughout the day but schedule reboots for overnight. That way, the system still installs the patch and reboots even if they’ve disconnected from the VPN. It’s been working great.

Now if I could only get the teleworkers to stop printing. I’ll walk the building and occasionally find a pile of paper where someone killed a printer and is still wondering where their spreadsheet is.

I wonder if that's why ours introduced secure print midway through the pandemic. We now have to badge in to the printer before it'll print. Hmmmmm..

We have to badge in to scan or copy. Since 2FA I already active in a login session, they can still print.

They’re SUPPOSED to be printing to PDF - sometimes we simply get someone who forgets to change their print device.

Could you block the VPN IP space from the printers/print servers? Not sure it's the desired state but it might work.
