Hey, I built my first PC when I was 14... Way less specs than that LOL! Used to be a lot more difficult too. Tis easy now... And definitely worth it. No reason not to build your own really!

    What's the incentive?

We gave them out with every laptop. Only because they'd go 'missing' at night  If you didn't lock your laptop, your boss would get a note.

Laptops suck as far as security goes. Especially when users fail to realize the consequences of leaving them unattended-in the back seat of a rental car-four of 'em gone in a flash.

Youngster. I built my first one in 1990. IBM XT PC with 256KB ram, two 5.25 floppy drives and no hard drive, amber monochrome monitor and MS DOS 3.1. Later I bumped it up to the maximum 640KB and added a 40 megabyte hard drive. Then I bought a Stacker card and doubled the drive to 80 megabytes (it was a compression card). My last upgrade to that computer was a monochrome VGA monitor and card and a 1x CDROM.

My buddy and I used to have competitions to see who could get the most usable ram out of the 640 by trying out different settings in the Autoexec.bat and Config.sys. I got up to 621KB of ram.

LOL.. I guess I'm not that old.. but my dad had that one..
    mine was a
    386SX-16 2MB RAM
QEMM386 software and Stacker. So many headaches loading the drivers high to get more base memory. With network cards we never hit the 621kb... barely got 600.

A while ago I did many different certs for Microsoft and Cisco... best study or cram books were:
    ExamCram
They are available at most bookstores or on Amazon.

depending on the test, testking.com is the best. Kinda like cheating because you basically get every question to the test.

Side note. I went to the Apple store the other day. Right across from it is a Windows store. Apple = Packed. Windows = Packed with employees.

For the most part, they are the same marketing model as far as the store goes. Microsoft just hasn't figured out how to sell directly to customers I guess.
