I should get a hold of it and put it on my laptop. When i was in our office more i used to put the latest and greatest on my laptop when ever it came out. I'm falling behind.

    It's gone now

Maybe, I haven't had enough coffee yet this morning...

Can't wait to get Windows 7 on eh? :D. I know eventually Microsoft is going to kill Windows XP...sadly.

I noticed my college campus is for the most part on Windows 7 now. I still see a few machines running Windows XP, but it's rare and all of the computer labs have machines on 7.

Oh and about Windows 8, it's pretty nifty. I have it under a virtual machine in VirtualBox. I'm not a big fan of the new interface though, and one time when my internet was down I wasn't able to log in

I did have my login tied with my Windows Live account, I don't recall if you can set up windows 8 with out one.

XP is outdated, Windows 7 is a better OS all around... Just because a few bloggers are in love with legacy systems and refuse to switch from an NT OS, doesn't mean the industry shouldn't.

MS better get it through their head, that crap isn't going to fly in a business environment.

Windows 8 in it's current format wont take hold in the Business world, I see MS separating their operating systems, keeping one for business and one for personal/mobile.

My understanding is that they are going back to a naming standard like they had with 2000. There will be a Windows 8 server, desktop, mobile with multiple editions of each.

So here are some screenshots i took a while back :D

    Installation
    [IMG]

First Time Boot, which took a while compared to the Windows 7 machines I've set up. It could be because it's under a virtual machine:

Login, you have to either swipe up to the left (for touch) or click and drag your mouse doing the same jesture

After you swipe this is your login:

    The new Interface:
It seems wonderful for tablets and touch screen devices...I don't know if this will be the default for desktops though
When you click on "Desktop" this is what comes up:

    Clicking on "Weather"

    Built-In Twitter:

When you install a program that isn't from the Windows App Store (which at the time wasn't working when I took these screen shots) it will have it's own tile, however, you will launch the "Desktop" and it looks like Windows 7 again. I haven't booted into Windows 8 recently so I don't know if the app store up and running now.

And here is the new Internet Explorer bundled with this version of Windows 8

Maybe we will see Linux come back into the picture as a viable solution for business desktops... Ubuntu is pretty close to being use-able.

The desktop of windows 8 looks good, but the whole social interaction seems like a waste of time for a workstation...

Oh I know, I love Windows 7. When I fix friends/family's machines I recommend for them to go out and buy a copy of Windows 7 if their machine can take it.

I can't upgrade mine because of some sound card issue. Everytime I have audio playing, if I do something that requires the CPU to work heavily (like the inital loading of a web page) I'll get a bunch of static in my audio, sometimes it will just go out completely and sometimes restarting the Windows Audio Service works to restore my audio that's gone out, but often I'd have to reboot if I wanted audio back :(

This is exactly what I thought. All that tablet geared stuff will be worthless to most of our users who do nothing but internet access and educational games on it.

    ^^^!

Ubuntu has come a long way. I've been using it since the 7.x releases. Not a big fan of the new "Unity" interface though.

Its great but like you said, Microsoft probably is going to have different version for the Consumer and Business world. With Social Networking big for the consumer version probably.
