I haven't had a chance to get into his office today. I think he is extremly busy playing Angry Birds. I really need to get my PHD.

This makes it look like he's running a different or incomplete package in the office.

You might want to look at this.

We have reverted his work to the same version as personal. I am now downloading the MacTex on a different mac and I am going to try and run it.

This one may have to wait till Monday, I am about to go to lunch for 3 hours.:D

Hey guys my bosses computer crashed today and whenever I try to go through recovery or repair it says it has an error code: 0xc00000e9

I looked it up and it says there is a problem with the BIOS. Anyone know how I could fix it?

I don't know where you seen that it is BIOS

    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...c00000e9/c874be58-416f-4f1a-9827-d112a1d07b6a

Put in a install disc and go into the recovery mode. Run chkdsk there.

Go into the bios, and reset to defaults, otherwise there may be a bios upgrade available on the webpage of the manufacturer.

How much info would be lost in resetting them to defaults?

Nothing, there is no data in the bios. Just to clarify, this is a longshot option, but it won't hurt much to try.

nothing. resetting the BIOS will not alter any of your files. You may have to change back which drive you boot of by default though.

    That is a little vague.

It likely means the hard drive is puking, or perhaps there's an issue with the hard drive controller itself.

I'd yank the drive and try to read it on another machine. Run a scandisk/checkdisk on it, that sort of thing, see if you can get the data off of it.

Second step would be to swap in another drive to that PC and see if it can see that.

    this.

chkdsk /f has worked some wonders here at work.

you might want to try making a bootable flash drive and pulling off the files just in case.
