I also had an 05 4runner and I totally miss how simple it was to change the oil, SPECIALLY with the filter on top!

Very nice! Might have to look into that. Fiddling with that filter case always gets me just a bit irritated.

anyone use the inverted adapter and mount it in a more convenient place up near the battery maybe? I'm wondering how the inverted adapter drains.

I purchased the Baxter Cartridge to remote adapter TR-101-BK and The Inverted Remote Oil Filter Mount . I'm going to run amsoil filters and amsoil signature series along with a EZ drain valve to make my oil changes simple and 100% 0 tools required minus a funnel. pretty stoked and plan to mount the remote adapter up near the front passenger side of the radiator. Can't wait and worth every penny to not have to remove my heavy ass skid plate every oil change.

Would like to see your setup when complete. I too hate removing the front aftermarket skid plate to do an oil change. I don't mind it for the diff it's good to get under and make sure everything is good but to hell with the front skid

Just installed my Baxter Remote Inverted Adapter. Yesterday. Quality unit and no leaks! And best of all no more tools to do an oil change!

Just an update since installing my remote inverted oil filter mount. i've now got a distinct whirr/whine. It's nothing terrible but deffinitely worth noting that it's audibly changed the sound of my engine. I'm going to try and mount some material between the inverted housing and the radiator support metal where i've got it mounted as well as material where a hose is slightly touching an ac line and see if that helps. I'm running an amsoil EA15K51 Filter with OEM oil currently but will switch to amsoil 0W20 Signature next change.

Any update? Your installation looks super clean! I've been thinking of doing the exact same modifications...

so I did mount some high temp rubber material about 1/8” thick. Seemed like it quieted it down a little bit but not much. It’s just a sound I’ll have to live with and have already gotten used to.

I may copy this setup. I’m tired of having to drop my skids each oil change. Between this and a Fumoto life will be good. My old Subaru Crosstrek was SO easy to change the oil since the filter was inverted.

it’s expensive. But it’s worth it in my opinion.

HERE is the hose kit I ordered and have had no leaks so far. It was interesting getting these fittings on. I had to mount the unit and measure my cuts and then un mount it and put the last two fittings on as I installed the fittings onto the hose in a vice.

all in all it wasn’t too bad.

This is the rubber material I used between the remote filter adapter and the front radiator support area.

I would try to run the hose so it’s not touching anything else as that could possibly amplify the oil pump noise. Mine touches an ac line and I put some material between the ac line and the hose also to try and dampen down the noise.

I didn’t realize it doesn’t come with the hoses, but that’s fine. I’m no stranger to working on braided hose and AN fittings. I have an ARB twin in the spot where you mounted yours. I’ll have to see if I even have room anywhere before attempting this.

Man i love the setup, it looks fantastic! You have practically picked the same place that im going to mount my setup im just switching to the opposite side (front) to mount mine. I have everything just welding up my mount that im making. Have you changed the oil yet since installing? Curious if it will drain back into the system or poke a hole if needed like the instructions say. Any regrets, leaking or problems at all? Thanks in advance bud.

No leaks at all so far. Havnt changed the oil yet. I’ll prolly just unscrew it slowly and let it set there barely threaded and see what happens. Deff can hear the oil pump much more but I’ve gotten used to the sound. I’m so happy I did this mod. After installing my bamf skid plates I would hate to have to pull it for an oil change. Now my oil changes will be a breeze.

Well I will probably do the same thing and just see if it drains back, im very curious. Really, im surprised that it makes that much noise, huh not to worried about that though. My core short throw shifter makes a fair amount a noise in cab so no bigey. And thats my main reason is the skids, I fabbed my own skids and made them double 3/16 steel plate so they weigh a TON and have no desire to take them on and off lol. Did you ever check your oil pressure before and after?

I did not. I thought about that tho but I don’t think my scangauge reads oil pressure just oil temp. I’d be curious to see how it affects pressure. I bet it helps aid in cooling oils a tiny bit as well

Just an update on my Baxter Oil filter relocation install. appears that i have a leak. baffled as to where it's coming from for reasons somewhat hard to explain, but it appears that it's leaking from the hoses. not sure if it's a fitting that started leaking, a small puncture in the hose or what but the braided hose is wet with oil after cleaning and starting the vehicle. it's dry up top at the remote oil filter housing and about 5" down the hose are dry. then the hose appears wet all the way down the hose to the bottom 90 degree fittings. I'm not sure how long it's been leaking but I know it ran dry for a long period of time with no leaks. I'm going to try and purchase new hose and fittings and re install.

I just received the hose kit yesterday from Amazon.. :(

Also, Could you provide any more pictures of how you mounted the filter relocation to your rad support? I got the Baxter components yesterday and I'm still working out how to get it mounted.
