Yes I can see that. I actually think this is a superbly well engineered and overbuilt product. Kudos for the guys who made it. It is the cost/benefit which to me does not work.

Oh yes. It’s a very nice adapter, I will certainly agree. I just decided to not use it for the reasons above. Nothing to do with the quality of the piece…….its VERY nice.

Are we cleaning out the inside cavity with brake cleaner, or nah?

Also, can somebody point out exactly where the blue Locktite should go, here?

Oh man. I’ve been away from being active on the forum for a while. I did however order up the Baxter cartridge to remote adapter and inverted remote filter mount. Just waiting for some lines and connections to show up. I have what might be a dumb question tho; when connecting the lines between the two units, is it in-to-in and out-to-out or in-to-out? Just want to be sure I don’t fudge such a critical component up. Thanks for the help y’all! After this I’ll finally be able to mount up my BAMF skids!!

I would guess out to in and out to in but THAT is a question only Baxter determined

Also where will you mount the remote filter mount?

I’ thinking you’re right as well. It would make sense to go OUT of the block IN to the filter and then OUT of the filter IN to block. Guess I’ll call Kevin over at Baxter again.

I’m thinking about going similar to what others in the forum have done and mounting it to the right side of the radiator support near the headlamp.

I believe you will understand once you get all the materials in hand. If you still have any questions it would be best to post at that time with pictures. I’ll be happy to assist for I have that full setup and it’s been working flawlessly for two years now.

@mquibble I just confirmed with Baxter that it’s always ‘out to in’ so that is sorted. I see you’re using the evil energy set from Amazon, any issues with leaks? I’ve ordered it but thinking about if I should go with something more high end. I’m in CA otherwise I’d definitely grab some beers and have you help me out lol. Looking to install this weekend or next based on my wife’s schedule haha.

No leaks, no issues. Never a bad idea to go as high-end as you can.

@mquibble @blitzkrieg3002 when it comes to installing the fittings and caps on the Baxter units, did you use any sealant or thread locker? How about connecting the hose ends to the fittings?

I didn’t use anything. No sealant or thread locker. I used only a bit of silicone spray to assist installing the fittings to the hose.

Holy shit, I love that inverted adapter.

I just checked their website and it says it's only for 2016-2020. I have a 2021. Wonder what's the difference?

Yea, it is expensive. I totally get it. Anyone not planning on keeping their truck forever would not consider this option very often.

Some can justify it this way. For $500 anyone can change their oil because of this setup. By doing their own changes let's estimate they save $20 twice (2) a year. The payback is still lengthy. For those who already change their own it makes it easier. And for some who like to save a few minutes this setup will allow them to get back to doing whatever it is they'd rather be doing.

I just "feel" cartridge/spin-on filters are better. I guess I don't understand how the filter cartridge setup ensures all of the oil actually goes through the filter element. I should really try and find a video that demonstrates that process. If anyone has a link to one I'd enjoy viewing it.

Stock with a camper shell for now.
Once I get skids to better protect the filter housing from Baxter and less clearance I’m going to upgrade to a spin on filter, I hate the oil filter canister.

Was going to install this past weekend but our toddler and I came down with the flu; and this virus was COVID level bad. I’ve lost all sensation of taste but finally on the mend, I think.

Got my fittings and hoses to the remote mount setup. And I’ve eyeballed where I’d like to mount it. Probably work on mounting it tomorrow, then over the weekend I’ll measure and cut the hoses down to length and get it wrapped up.

Excited to get this complete and mount up my BAMF trilogy that’s been sitting in the garage for going on 3 years.

    Finally got it done!!

I’d say the hardest part was trial and error to get the fitment of the remote mount on the firewall just right. My OCD had me adjusting it constantly because I wanted it perfectly level and wanted to ensure I could fit as large a filter as possible and still maintain adequate clearance without rubbing the ac line beneath. In the end, I bent the ac line just slightly out of the way of the 45 degree hose ends. I can fit a WIX 51393/Napa 1393 filter just fine.

The one area I will probably revisit is the length of the tubing. I was conservative and I feel the tubing is a bit long by 1.5-2”. I’ll probably run it as is and when I do my first precautionary oil change in 3000 miles, I’ll adjust the tubing length.

I was however shocked at how ridiculously tight the cartridge housing was torqued down by the techs at Toyota during the complimentary services. I find it nutty that anyone can think to tighten anything so extensively. I actually broke the plastic housing and bent the wrench but was able to get it off eventually.

Looking forward to the next oil change which will be a breeze between this setup and the Fumoto valve. After that oil change, I’ll give the setup a thorough once-over and then install the BAMF skids.
