My Kenwood double din head unit with navigation (God rest its soul) of about 6 years is dying on me. Touch screen is starting to freeze up and I have to reboot it about 3-4 times to change the volume. I need suggestions on a replacement. I really do not need nav as I have Google Maps on my phone. I'm looking more for sound quality and ease of use. I don't need wattage as it will be driving 2 Rockford Fosgate amps pushing about 1200 watts into 8 JBL speakers and a 12" Kicker Sub. I prefer Kennwood, Pioneer or Alpine brands but I am open to suggestions.
    Budget is $300-$500
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

IDK if they make head units anymore to be honest, I havent been in the market for one for years. But I had one in my mustang years ago and it had pre-outs which was handy since many head units at the time did not include them. It also came with a remote, which was just fun to show off. You can generally find them on ebay now for ~$100. They cost around $600 when they first released.

I think they must go by just Eclipse now. I Googled em and only got Vintage Fujitsu.

I have seen that on several I am considering. What exactly is Apple Car Play? And do you need an IPhone?

Apple car play is software the integrates with apple phones. It "basically" takes your apps and puts them on your dash.

As a Geek Squad Installer for Best Buy, I deal with literally hundreds of radios.
For the money you're willing to spend, the best thing you can currently get for that price is the Kenwod DDX6705S. Currently $450, regular $550.
