Actually I was kinda pumped up when I saw this in a picture. One thing I missed a lot when they took it away from us in 2005. I don't want an automatic without that ECT PWR button

    It's definitely growing on me....

...still not a fan of that front bumper with the lip. Reminds me of the previous generation Honda CRV.

Hope the new 6spd manual is a bit more refined.

Not on tap for a new rig until at least 2020, so maybe Gen 4? haha

Did they omit the tweeters in the door? No more mid-level sound available...

I've embraced everything but the front end. Been waiting for the front end to grow on me but it hasn't. For me at least it will require aftermarket changes..

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
All these people bitching about the 3rd gen, makes me wonder what it was like before the 2nd gen came out and there were only spy shots of it floating around.

    "OMG it's too big!"
"OMG it has a plastic front bumper!"
"OMG the double cab long bed is too long for a truck!"
"OMG the 6 speed manual is gonna suck compared to my 5 speed!" (which turned out to be true)
"OMG the new automatic is a 5 speed, it's probably going to have lots of problems!"
"OMG it's too big for the 4 cylinder to handle! Why they do dat?" D:

Maybe a bit over-bearing, but I had to take a shot at it anyway. I wasn't into Tacomas back then so I really am not sure.

I drove a 1999 and thought that every year the grill got uglier. When the 2nd gen came out I thought it looked like shit, big bug eyed waste of metal. I love my 2010 and think the grill got better looking with every year. 2016 looks and sounds promising, I care about mpg and use ability. Tacomas have bin work trucks for me, remodeling. Looks like they have addressed my issues so far... We will see.

I'll be staying with the 2005 Tundra Access Cab for a while. Main reason being the 2016 Tacoma Access Cab still has those shitty little 1980's jump seats. Don't tell me "this is pre-production", not gonna buy into that. '05 Tundra Access Cab has a beautiful 60/40 fully padded foldup rear bench with folddown center console. They should have put that into the 2016 Tacoma.

'05 Tundra Access Cab is 218" total length with a 75" bed, 49" between the wheel wells, perfect size for me and it actually carries rear passengers in comfort. I doubt the 2016 Tacoma Access Cab can match that.

I only liked the 95-97 and 01-04 grilles on the first gens with 95-97 being preferred a bit more. Thinking about converting my 04 front clip to that, to be honest. Still has that old nostalgic Toyota pickup look to it which I really love. But I never cared for the 98-00 front ends for some reason. Still love all first gens though, and if I got a good deal on 98-00 I'd buy it in a heartbeat for a wheeler. Could always swap the front clip to another style when I felt like it!

I like my 2011 grille for no other reason than that it is unique. It's the only year they used the honeycomb grill. 2012 was the facelift.

    Yeah and everything was right.

"OMG it's too big!" - Yup 2Gen is way bigger than 1gen. I bought my 2gen for little different purpose than my 1gen. Having both at the same time was good learning. You could sneak that 1gen Reg cab anywhere. It was like big ATV it fit in places you would not think it was possible. Not to mention in many garages.
"OMG it has a plastic front bumper!" - Yup and it does sucks today. With steel bumpers all you needed was a drill to mount extra lights, you never worried about brush or small trees. I still stand by my complain from 10 years ago about plastic bumper.
"OMG the double cab long bed is too long for a truck!" - It is too long for small truck, It feels like full size (the same length as some F150. However if you had 1gen as small truck and 2gen as sorta full size it was ok.
"OMG the 6 speed manual is gonna suck compared to my 5 speed!" (which turned out to be true) - Test drove 6 speed manual and felt it was one of the worst transmissions I drove, I new this transmission is going to be a problem and hey look at past 10 years.
"OMG the new automatic is a 5 speed, it's probably going to have lots of problems!" - Nothing beats 340 a precursor of 750. 340 transmissions outlived cars were in.
"OMG it's too big for the 4 cylinder to handle! Why they do dat?" D: - its same 4 cylinder as in 1gen. If 1gen on 33" tires was a dog than a truck weighting 1000 lb more could only make it worse.
Thats the difference between somebody who was learning how to ride tricycle and others who drove trucks already. Experience.

You have to buy what is available. I thought the Gen 2 Tacoma was the ultimate. I found out the Gen I Tundra was a better truck and bought one.

Now, looking to the future, I bet the Gen 3 Tacoma will be the replacement sometime for the 2005 Tundra. Of all the AVAILABLE multi-use trucks the Tacoma mid-size will probably be the best.

Ridgeline may be good, but I doubt there will be a shell for it. Canyon won't be as good offroad.

Please tell me that you're playing dumb. It's a smaller truck! A full back seat can be found in the Tacoma DOUBLE CAB...

I know I really like it and love the blue. I have the speedway blue now and love my truck. I get compliments still on the color. I am really excited that they are offering a power moonroof finally. I wonder about power seats though.

Tacoma double cab with a 73" bed won't fit in my garage. '05 Tundra Access Cab with nice rear seats is 218" length with a 75" bed and does fit in my garage.

'05 Tundra is perfect dimensions for me, I'd like to see the 2016 Tacoma match it.

Every picture of the limited show NO power seats and been zero mention of them having the option.

    Heres a thread on it...

A gen 4 by 2020 is optimistic. We probably got another decade with this Tacoma, so get used to it. ;)
