I still occasionally wonder if I should have found an '06 Tundra double cab instead of my '11 Tacoma. On paper the tow rating is almost the same as my Tacoma but I'd bet it'll tow that same weight easier. I think what stopped me is that it is slower (I've driven them) and the gas mileage is worse...plus they're already pushing 10 years old.

My Tacoma doesn't feel obnoxiously big or cumbersome, either. With those Tundras, you are very aware you're driving a large truck even if the dimensions aren't all that different.

Okay. In that situation, it sounds like you're screwed. Current gen Taco DCLB is 221" long. Especially screwed considering Toyota said the 2016 Tacoma has grown 4" longer (3" up front, 1" in rear I believe).

Nice rig! I've got a near identical Pyrite Mica '09 DC 6'. And I'm selling the ARE cap (selling truck). Posted here just today. Just wanted to let you know in case you're in the market. I had a hell of a time finding it.

    Take care,

    Rod

I've gotten over my initial shock & dismay when I got my first glimpse at the 2016. IMO, it's not a totally new gen, just a glorified re-skin with some upgraded interior and drivetrain bits. Didn't meet my hopes & expectations, but after awhile it's grown on me. I like lots of what has been added, but was hoping for more. What I was hoping for would be a combo of a Limited AND a TRD Pro or Off-Road. All the luxury features plus all the off-road stuff. Maybe in a couple of years? Maybe?

I'm glad to see all these Chevy Colorado commercials. Let's start a price war that drives down the price of Tacomas by response...right before my 2016 is delivered.

    C'mon, demand-side economics!

Right! I don't know if it will happen, but I can hope.

IMO take 2-3K extra on top of what the price is now, that's likely where they will be at. Based on history of when the following year will land I'll also bet it is October-November before any 2016s are on the floor to even purchase.

That is what I am guessing as well and am using it for budgeting purposes. I figured that October will be my purchase month and gives me 8 more months of savings for the down payment.

Then it's the ACTUAL TRUCK. And still black. And a long bed. And I bet it's got left-hand threaded cup holders.

The lefties are by far the favorites. When will the right handed individuals of the world get theirs?
