    Depends on how deep the water is!

    Brakes, what is the surface area of the Toyota pistons compared to the Ford pistons in the brake calipers? You might check with front range off road fab about a bracket to run stock brakes.

    Looks good Jake. I don't know how hot those resi's are going to get, depending how hard you push your truck I would watch the plastic parts around them.

    Better to ask what I have not done.
    I believe the stock calipers are 4 2" pistons. And the new one is only one 3 inch piston.

    Old caliper piston surface area = 12.56
    New caliper surface area = 7.065

    :confused::confused:

    If the surface area is smaller on the new caliper that should make for a shorter pedal travel. You might have killed the nasty cylinder

    So after some racking of the brain we desided to hook up the old calipers to the truck and stick the old rotors in it. The brakes felt better. By a lot. So there was our first hint it was the brakes. I later found out that steve has rubed off on me And that i fucked up the surface area math. Even though there is 4 pistons on the stock callipers making up the volume. They are only moving half as far on each side to make up the same travle. Making the volume equal to 2 pistons worth of size. And the stock pistons are 1.625 inches diameter so with that puts stock volume per unit displaced at 4.45 or so. The new ones measure out to 2 and 15/16s doing the math puts me at 6.67ish for surface area over distance travled. Solving that issue.

    Things to fix would be

    A. A larger gm MC to make up for the loss in volume.

    Or B. Wilwood makes a 2.45 square inch per unit caliper giving me better braking then even before the sas. Which has been said to be kinda bad.

    Un knowns to me are still with the new calipers. I can pump and build up pressure but it still fades fast once the pumping has stopped? So i do not know why that happens.

    Two we did have the abs modual completely unhooked and out. Is there a possibility that it is not bleed fully? And or that we still have some air causing fading?
    The fading is what makes no sense to me.

    What would it take to put the factory brakes on it?
